Yes but I tried their suggested workarounds and the block kept returning. I spent up to week making calls to their help desk and lap top supplier to work out a fix until one awsome dude at MS had the patience to apply the fix. I spent literally a whole night into the morning with him, he was so patient but it was so draining! (several hours on the one call). So far its good and I hope it never returns, fancy putting your customers and employees through this! And I don't think its ethical practice!
Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"
I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

2024-04-07T17:53:01+00:00 Thank you Sanchit. I had originally made an appt with the Geek Squad., but I also waited for Microsoft to call me back. Had a backup plan. Microsoft had me in a que. The kind technician walked me through it as we talked about family and life. He was wonderful , with his daughter playing in the background. American living in Thailand with his wife and child and dog.
All worked out. I hope everyone has a good experience. It is a rarity. 💕 now days.

2024-04-07T15:59:42+00:00 Hello Denise, If your computer still has warranty by the OEM, or warranty by Best Buy Geek Squad, I'd recommend you ask them to fix this, I had this issue, to fix it it's a bit complicated, Best Buy just fixed it for me, so I recommend if you have warranty ask them to fix it, If you don't, but still have a return window open, return it and get a computer without S Mode for Windows Already activated.

2024-04-07T15:26:24+00:00 Did they ever get you out of S mode?
I did the Reset/saving all settings.
They should be accountable for this
It is ridiculous. I saw someone wanting to sue MS.
The only thing I can do going forward, is to make sure we don't leave Best Buy with a future new laptop for my husband, until we make sure the laptop is not in S mode.

2024-04-07T14:18:46+00:00 Great, totally agree. I’ve registered a complaint to government ministers, this feels like they are taking advantage of their position to force this upon people. Caused alot of frustration and calls to their support to remove it!
