Windows 11 File Explorer Right-click Menu was changed to include icons

I wonder if anyone knows how to change the icons ( I mean i'm looking into it but I know it's a lot of messing about to find the DLL and make adjustments) It's just it would make more sense if the icons were more relevant.

For instance the Copy Icon and the Paste icon are both two rectangles, one subtley looks like a clipboard (Paste). The problem of course is that they are similar and slow you up (if you are doing something quickly) everytime trying to work out if you are about to copy something or paste over something.

What I would do is change the paste to look like a Gluepot (to reference paste) that way it's completely different from copy.

It is driving me nuts! Everytime I try to do anything I have to stop and try to work out what the icon represents and which one I might need to choose - when it used to just be in text that I could read. I think the rename icon must be one of the most obscure I've seen. I was searching for how to rename and then looked at this thing which seemed to be a font symbol and aagghhh it was a flipping icon for "rename". Does anyone know if there is a way we can choose to have words instead of icons which will never mean much to me. I saw an icon today on something else (not Windows) and thought - why is there a tampon icon on this flow chart - it turned out to be a writing symbol with a quill pen with a squiggle for writing ink - but as a tiny icon it looked like a piece of string. A quill pen - give me strength!

Can we get an answer from Microsoft on why senseless UI changes like this are made?

If they are necessary then how about have a professional version with no desktop ads/"interests", no cortana/clippy/AI, no cloud as a default option, No thumbnails over minimized items, no combined by default taskbar? I'd pay extra for that. You nailed UI with Window XP and Windows 7. At least give us a theme that switches half this cell phone UI stuff off. It doesn't work. Try renaming your computer using the blue menu. Does not work. The "advanced system settings" way that does work is now hidden under this dysfunctional mess. Seems like companies don't listen to the customer post pandemic.

I agree! It's a classic case of implementing a change just for the sake of implementing a change instead of for a valid reason.
