Windows 11- audio long delay before starting

After updating to Windows 11 on my 6 month old laptop, my audio files take 20 seconds to start or they do not start at all. This also causes a delay in videos starting whether the file is on my computer or a website. Has anyone else had this issue.

    I had the same problem. But I get a solution on the HP site.

    I changed my Realtek settings in Windows 11 Registry and it will work fine.

    Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\xxxx\PowerSettings

    where 'xxxx' is one of keys which contains

    DriverDesc value 'Realtek High Definition Audio'.

    Note: There may be multiple ones containing PowerSettings,

    for example 'Nvidia High Definition Audio'.

    You'll find there three binary values and set them:

    • ConservationIdleTime = ff ff ff ff;
    • IdlePowerState = 00 00 00 00;
    • PerformanceIdleTime = ff ff ff ff.

    It is because of Audio Enhancement.

    You can turn off this mode and restart windows. Problem is fixed

    Yeah I forgot that I checked with headphones. Definitely a driver issue. I'll check out the sound adapter idea, but I'll need a USB hub too. I'm out of ports.

    I have the same problem! lenovo s340, almost all of the time I hear not the full notification sounds but only an ending part of it. If I pause a video on youtube and then come back after a while and press resume, the video starts playing, but the sound appears maybe in a second or more!!!!!!!!!!!

    If I play the sound with win 11 default media player I don't hear the start of the file at all, sound start in 1 or more seconds of file....

    smth is not right with the audio buffer etc. of course drivers, thoubleshooting disabling enhancements etc doesn't help
