Over-exposure in screenshots and recordings with HDR in Windows 11

I clearly have some learning to do on HDR, no matter MS can't fic their ****. I'm very happy with the graphics I get in Edge with my settings even if its not setting the Asus to HDR, I currently do not have any of the issues that irritated me for months.

Now, my COD, when I start the game (it enables the Windows HDR automatically and I get the Asus screen message popup saying HDR enabled and its changing some other stuff). When I alt-tab to the desktop everything in Windows look **** as before. When I exit the game, it automatically disables Windows HDR and my desktop is looking good again. So basically what it looks like is the games will enable the Windows HDR and disable it again so you don't need to.

So for me I think I found my sweet spot until we eventually get a fix. I'm sad this is not working for you mate, I really tried my best to find that for you.

Yeah, as long as it works for you and you are happy with those settings it's not that important what exactly is happening behind the scenes. I was just confused by what you were describing, but now I understand. In my case, as long as almost everything looks better with HDR disabled, and the screenshots work too, I'll keep it disabled. But clearly Microsoft could do better here, as not everyone has the time to fiddle with various settings for days to get something that they can live with.

Totally agree mate, I'm dumbfounded by the fact that the not taking this serious! I would be ashamed if this was me or my company, just crazy!

So is it still unresolved? I've had the same issue for about 2 years now. I'm running W10. I thought it was a GPU problem since when I first googled for the issue I found no one else with the same problem. I was using a GTX 950 and a few months ago I upgraded to a 1050, but the problem persisted.

My pc cannot run W11 and I'm using a single monitor (A 42" TV).

I don't have the problem while gaming, tho, perhaps because the games I play are older and HDR wasn't a thing, I don't know. Neither do I have it while recording (I use Action!) but 95% of screenshots I take, and I take a lot force me to disanble HDR in order to send a decent screen capture. I used print key + paint, then I used to snipping tool and now I'm using Lightshot.

The solution is to type chrome://flags/#force-color-profile in the address bar of Google Chrome, then change the color profile from Default to HDR10 (where available). Although, you may have luck by changing it to sRGB."

Now I've tried that config and didn't work, but I started trying every option and Display P3 D65 is the one that worked in all Chrome, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi browsers. The site doesn't appear to work on Firefox.
