Over-exposure in screenshots and recordings with HDR in Windows 11

You may try the step follow.

1. Select the Startbutton, then enter settings. Select Settings> System> Display.
2. If you have multiple displays connected to your PC, select the HDR-capable display near the top of the screen, and then move the Settings app window to the HDR display that you’re adjusting
3. On the Display settings screen, select Use HDR.
4. UnderSDR content brightnessor HDR content brightness, drag the slider to get the right balance for brightness between HDR and SDR content.

I completely agree that this is a huge issue, to see Microsoft behind the curve yet again with such a trivial issue reinforces my feelings of unsatisfaction with the Windows OS in recent years, things really have gotten that dire all over the OS.

Clearly you haven't tested this.

If HDR is enabled in Windows 11, then ANY screenshot made through print-screen or snipping tool becomes over exposed.

Here's and example:
HDR On (made with windows integrated snipping tool):

No modifications done to the image. Right after snip, i used CTRL V to post it here.
And the same thing happens with prnt sc.

This is kind of a huge issue.

First of all, I checked the relevant information and found that the screen recording software you mentioned does not support HDR screen recording itself, but its deficiencies can be compensated by the settings in the software. Because this forum is aimed at individual users of Windows products, I cannot provide you with further support related to the software, but you can check the relevant information on the official forum of the software.

And about screenshots. Because the screenshot function that comes with the system is only a very basic screenshot and cannot use HDR, it is recommended that you use the screenshot function in the Xbox Gamebar (Open with Win + G).
