Over-exposure in screenshots and recordings with HDR in Windows 11

Hello, I am inquiring about an issue I can't seem to solve (without turning HDR off all-together, which defeats the purpose of having it even be an option in Windows 11)

In recordings (primarily using OBS) and in screenshots (with snip and sketch) everything appears extremely over-exposed / bright with HDR enabled. This is a big problem for me as I actually, well, want to use the OS normally. I record lots of clips and take many screenshots and I've finally gotten fed up of it and am now looking for a solution. Any help appreciated, thanks

(snip and sketch has since stopped doing it, however it likes to do it randomly now. commonly happens in fullscreen programs and also my web browser for some reason)

    How is this not selected by default or warned when you enable HDR in windows is beyond my compreehension.

    Been having this problem since 2022.. now it's finally fixed.

    Strangely for me all works fine after I did those tweaks I have dual monitor as well and tested doing screenshot for both and they all good.

    I have a rather odd but effective workaround.

    Once you have the image you wish to copy on screen:

    • Right click on the image and use the 'Copy' option.
    • Open a Powerpoint Presentation (or Word page, whatever works for you).
    • Paste into that slide/page.
    • Size to your preference.
    • Copy and paste that version of the image into your destination.

    It's a bit of a fuss, but if you leave a blank PP doc ready on your Desktop, it runs pretty smoothly. You get crystal clear repro and at a size that doesn't cause problems when sending.

    Works for me, anyway.
