Over-exposure in screenshots and recordings with HDR in Windows 11

Hello, I am inquiring about an issue I can't seem to solve (without turning HDR off all-together, which defeats the purpose of having it even be an option in Windows 11)

In recordings (primarily using OBS) and in screenshots (with snip and sketch) everything appears extremely over-exposed / bright with HDR enabled. This is a big problem for me as I actually, well, want to use the OS normally. I record lots of clips and take many screenshots and I've finally gotten fed up of it and am now looking for a solution. Any help appreciated, thanks

(snip and sketch has since stopped doing it, however it likes to do it randomly now. commonly happens in fullscreen programs and also my web browser for some reason)

    Funny enough the workaround is win+alt+printscreen which will place the screenshot in the xbox gamebar folder which you can show with win+g

    So they do have the functionality just not in their basic screenshot application.

    Unfortunately other screenshot applications have the same HDR issue, but the xbox gamebar does not.

    Oh man this really works and this just shows how bad windows is now.

    I mean we get UI updates for options that worked fine ford the past only to make 1 menu into 3 different menues and still with sliders to see the whole thing to show us all and so on. Windows is keep getting more frustating and not getting better.

    UI scaling is still freked, the options and the standard right click is way to big. Everything would fit on one screen if they drop this modern inefficient way of menues.

    2024 STILL an issue. Might have to switch over to linux until this is fixed.

    So much of the snippets I take is in Edge Browser I found a solution that works for me because I was ready to start hurting people due to the fact that Microsoft do not seem to care about this and they don't seem to care how something so simple can cause so much frustration, stress, anxiety and hate!!!

    So this is what I did and it works for me, I still need to tweak brightness and I have GeForce down to 10% and still too bright for me (a 43" ASUS screen and a white page can blind you) so need to work on that.

    1. Enabled HDR in Windows 11 (Because that's what we damn want, MS fix your ****!!!)
    2. Go into Edge "edge://flags/#force-color-profile" and set it to "HDR10" (I guess the same will work for Chrome)
    3. I'm on the new Teams 2.0 (We all should be, being force on all of us by April 2024) and snippet works there without issues.

    I can now once again takes snippets from anything I browse and its not looking like **** anymore...

    So I don't think snippet is the problem but the actually apps you taking snippets in, it's not passing the right info from the app to the OS (HDR). I tried a few things and all I had to do in the end is to enable HDR in Edge, I've just done the same in Chrome and wallah, it works there now as well. It could still be snippet but I'm not sure it is, unless they can set snippet to capture as is and not do do **** with the capture, don't be clever and just take the f***** snip!!!
