Hello everyone. I wanted to share possibly the last update. Next week we will be releasing a new Game Ready Driver which will include a fix for this issue. As I stated in the past, this was resolved by reproducing a crash on a different Dell notebook that produced a crash dump file with the same signature as that shared by users to me in this thread and coming up with a fix for that. So while we were not able to 100% confirm the fix since we do not have a Dell XPS 9560 in our labs, I would recommend users give the next driver update a try and then share your feedback. Thank you all for your help and your patience.
Continued BSOD video dxgkrnl fatal error Windows 10 dell XPS laptop
Final Edit: I'm updating this thread for future users. The problem is solved! Nvidia have released a new driver that fixes the issue. It's been in use for over 10 days as of time of writing and all reports are that the XPS 15 9560 is stable again.
Thank you to everyone who came hear and contributed their voice into the mix, and thank you Nvidia Manuel for hearing us and providing updates. I'll leave the workarounds up and in the post just in case the problem arises again in the future.
Original post below:
My laptop (Dell xps 15 9560 windows 10 21H2) has been repeatedly BSODing. It was doing this about 3-4 weeks ago. I made a post here, spoke to someone and implemented their fix and thought I was done as everything returned to normal. Yet the problem persists as of the most recent windows update.
Things I have done:
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled all graphics drivers from manufacturers with a clean install using DDU in safe mode
Rolled back the most recent windows update
Installed all the updates from Dell support
Attempted to repair files with the sfc /scannow command
Reinstalled DirectX
Cried a little bit
As of about an hour ago I'm still having the same blue screen fatal error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Liam
Edit 1: Thought it best to post this here so it's on every page for new comers. Members of this thread with 9560s suffering constant BSODs have found that disabling the GTX1050 graphics card in the device manager results in system stability. Yes, this is not an acceptable long term solution, we didn't buy these machines to have them hamstrung like this. But equally this does completely fix the BSOD issue. This is a temporary band-aid fix until a real solution presents itself.
Band Aid Method:
- Press windows key + x
- Select device manager from list
- Navigate to Display Adapters and double click
- Locate NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 from the drop down options
- Right click on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and select Disable device
- Bingo. You did it.
Your 9560 is now stable for office use, internet browsing, and lite graphic design work. I've been using Illustrator with a very minor performance hit.
One user has noted that you can fire up your system with the GTX1050 disabled, reenable it, and perform graphics heavy tasks with it as long as you disable the GTX1050 before the machine goes into sleep mode or restarts, etc, then everything remains stable. It's a pain in the ****, but for some of you with more demanding tasks that are on a deadline it might work in a pinch.
Edit 2: Some members of this thread have had success rolling their Nvidia drivers back to version 27.21.14.6109. This appears to stop the BSOD issue while keeping the gtx1050 active and stable. This can be found on Dell's website with a little searching. Anyone using this method should be aware that drivers are updated for a reason. Utilizing this method could leave your system open to security threats, etc. In my opinion this is still only a band-aid fix.

2022-10-31T19:38:38+00:00 Just making a note that a new NVIDIA Driver v526.47 is available and we're waiting on several early adopters (thanks all!) to let us know if it's good to go or not..
Are you from Dell? I mean, it's on NVidia's website already, so I assume NVidia has "released" it.
Maybe now is the time to ask this question again: Why do NVidia and Dell have different numbering systems for the drivers? NVidia uses a 3 digit prefix and Dell uses 2. Not sure how we tell which corresponds to which.
No, just for those of us not reading this thread every day I was making a note that several people here were testing the new driver and those that can't spend the time to test the driver themselves for various reasons (myself included) could wait for the outcome updates.

2022-11-01T18:39:25+00:00 So I updated to version 526.47 (31.0.15.2647) and its been 2 days now where I've tested Assetto Corsa with CSP, Premiere Pro with the CUDA encoder and Furmark.
So far everything seems stable and working as intended, no crashes, all of the above were crashing when using drivers above 451.48 (27.21.14.6109) and below 526.47. -

2022-11-01T21:05:49+00:00 Per NVIDIA driver update instructions, on 27 October I used Windows 10's Apps uninstall (not Device Manager) to remove symptomatic (BSOD-ing) Nvidia v512.72 from my Dell XPS 9560 and then installed v526.47. Since then it's been running flawlessly, without any BSOD. This is by far the longest its run without this BSOD since that symptom first appeared many months ago so v526.47 seems to have fixed the subject issue on my computer.

2022-11-02T08:27:24+00:00 Hi everyone,
Just to add more positive news from my perspective. I have been running on the new driver 526.47 (31.0.15.2647) since it came out and have had no BSOD's. All good.
I think our man at NVIDIA_Manuel cracked it. Well done Manuel - You persisted and supported us when Dell and Microsoft were nowhere to be seen. Whist we probably want to give it another week before we draw a final conclusion, I'd say after 5 days of constant heavy usage, that early indications from my perspective anyway look very promising.
As some of you are aware, I did try to get support from DELL, but it was left with them being adamant that I should fully reinstall Windows 10 and then the latest drivers to see if it resolved it, before they would investigate any further. I told them I had tried that, but because I did it back in May, they wanted me to do it again as a more recent attempt - unfortunately I didn't have the time to rebuild my laptop again, and then the news came from Manuel that a fix was coming so I decided to hold fire..
I will miss this forum, all 35 pages and 345 posts.. It's been good therapy - thankyou from me to everyone who persisted and added value on the investigations. I'll keep an eye on this thread over the next week, and if it's still looking positive this time next week, I might let DELL know, although I might need a stiff drink before picking up the phone....
Fingers crossed no one else has had an issue? ;-)
HT.
