Hello everyone. I wanted to share possibly the last update. Next week we will be releasing a new Game Ready Driver which will include a fix for this issue. As I stated in the past, this was resolved by reproducing a crash on a different Dell notebook that produced a crash dump file with the same signature as that shared by users to me in this thread and coming up with a fix for that. So while we were not able to 100% confirm the fix since we do not have a Dell XPS 9560 in our labs, I would recommend users give the next driver update a try and then share your feedback. Thank you all for your help and your patience.
Continued BSOD video dxgkrnl fatal error Windows 10 dell XPS laptop
Final Edit: I'm updating this thread for future users. The problem is solved! Nvidia have released a new driver that fixes the issue. It's been in use for over 10 days as of time of writing and all reports are that the XPS 15 9560 is stable again.
Thank you to everyone who came hear and contributed their voice into the mix, and thank you Nvidia Manuel for hearing us and providing updates. I'll leave the workarounds up and in the post just in case the problem arises again in the future.
Original post below:
My laptop (Dell xps 15 9560 windows 10 21H2) has been repeatedly BSODing. It was doing this about 3-4 weeks ago. I made a post here, spoke to someone and implemented their fix and thought I was done as everything returned to normal. Yet the problem persists as of the most recent windows update.
Things I have done:
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled all graphics drivers from manufacturers with a clean install using DDU in safe mode
Rolled back the most recent windows update
Installed all the updates from Dell support
Attempted to repair files with the sfc /scannow command
Reinstalled DirectX
Cried a little bit
As of about an hour ago I'm still having the same blue screen fatal error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Liam
Edit 1: Thought it best to post this here so it's on every page for new comers. Members of this thread with 9560s suffering constant BSODs have found that disabling the GTX1050 graphics card in the device manager results in system stability. Yes, this is not an acceptable long term solution, we didn't buy these machines to have them hamstrung like this. But equally this does completely fix the BSOD issue. This is a temporary band-aid fix until a real solution presents itself.
Band Aid Method:
- Press windows key + x
- Select device manager from list
- Navigate to Display Adapters and double click
- Locate NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 from the drop down options
- Right click on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and select Disable device
- Bingo. You did it.
Your 9560 is now stable for office use, internet browsing, and lite graphic design work. I've been using Illustrator with a very minor performance hit.
One user has noted that you can fire up your system with the GTX1050 disabled, reenable it, and perform graphics heavy tasks with it as long as you disable the GTX1050 before the machine goes into sleep mode or restarts, etc, then everything remains stable. It's a pain in the ****, but for some of you with more demanding tasks that are on a deadline it might work in a pinch.
Edit 2: Some members of this thread have had success rolling their Nvidia drivers back to version 27.21.14.6109. This appears to stop the BSOD issue while keeping the gtx1050 active and stable. This can be found on Dell's website with a little searching. Anyone using this method should be aware that drivers are updated for a reason. Utilizing this method could leave your system open to security threats, etc. In my opinion this is still only a band-aid fix.

2022-09-25T08:10:02+00:00 Same problem here. FWIW, it seemed to start after I started using the Flutter development environment - I'm using VS Code and the Android emulator from Android Studio. And yes, it seems to occur after a Hibernate or Sleep. I was only using the laptop very lightly beforehand though so this is by no means conclusive. Feels nice to be a member of such a large club for a change. 🤣

2022-09-25T17:15:28+00:00 Dear DELL XPS15 9560 BSOD therapy group,
I'm afraid the response from Bharathi was most uninspiring, and underwhelming...Our ears must have been burning Grinters, as her email came in late on the 22nd.. I quote..
"Hi Howard,
Thank you for contacting dell support.
As per the update received from L3 they found the system is more than 5 yrs and it is not tested for win 11. Kindly download and install the drivers only on Dell support and if BSOD stops rolling back to older version you can retain that, and more over this needs to be checked with NVIDIA and there is nothing much we can do as we have limited support.
Regards,
Bharathi"I'm not going to go on a major rant, I'm trying to keep my updates to this thread professional and factual.. but please forgive me a few lines to get this off my wheezing chest..
Windows 11? Ha ha! The irony. this model has a cpu in it that is the only one probably from Intels 2016/17 armoury (i7 7th gen) that Microsoft don't like from a Win 11 perspective. I'm on Windows 10 and the whole details I gave DELL, screen shots etc was for Windows 10. The extra 'pro' insult was the fact that we had a whole 1 hr discussion on the phone all around win10 versions, and also I keep getting promotional emails about the latest XPS13, oh the double irony...
I will be on the phone to them again tomorrow to ask them to take this more seriously and accept this is software driver clash issue and work with us to solve this problem. I am not willing to decommission a laptop when it's only 5 years old, cost an arm and a leg and has only just had it's battery replaced with RAM and SSD u/g.
I'm thinking sales of goods act now, and will take this up further with them with that tack.. I specifically bought this machine thinking that it would last longer than laptops a 1/4 of the price to avoid filling landfill sites etc..... They have a moral obligation/duty of care to investigate this and drive a solution through.
Bhartathi specifically asked me not to post the DELL ticket number when I originally raised it on this post, which I respected, but now given this latest response, I have decided to share it with you at least to legitimise my efforts.. This is the email subject which allows it to be reconciled against the ticket number... If you want to send an email to technical_******@help.dell.com with this text in the subject, you are free to do so...

NVIDIA_Manuel - thankyou for taking this seriously, your update sounds promising, I will follow up on separate update re test results on Drivers that are good - the results suggest we can install a more recent version that the one that Diego Suggested.. If you are in dialouge with DELL at all on this, please feel free to mention the case number above.

2022-09-25T17:34:43+00:00 Hello fellow Blue Screeners.....
So the latest news from my testing perspective is as follows:
The jury so far:
30.0.14.7135, A08 - 15/09/2021 - BSOD
27.21.14.6231, A07 - 18/05/2021 - BSOD after 2 hrs,
27.21.14.6109, A06 - 22/02/2021 - Still working ok after 6 days..
27.21.14.5241, A05 - 17/11/2020 - ?
27.21.14.5167, A04 - 19/08/2020 - ?
27.21.14.4270, A21 - 07/05/2020 - We all agree this clears the BSOD (btw, I didn't notice any performance issue or screaming fans with this)
I think I'm happy that this more recent version is worth u/g to - 27.21.14.6109 off the DELL support site. I have been using my machine heavily over the last 6 days and had no issues, Back to her usual reliable self. Its also 9 months newer than driver sub-version 4270, so worth U/G to I think.
Those stable users with the GPU active and running on 4270, if u r willing, u/g to 6109, and see how u go. Worst case is u roll back to 4270, but don't want people to risk losing work - I'm all good though.
NVIDIA_Manuel, Not sure if this helps you in you investigations, but I reckon the delta where the issue came into the picture was between 6109 and 6231.
Again, not pointing the finger at NVIDA here, we know the more recent drivers did work for a while until a Windows update occurred earlier in the year.
I really appreciate you continuing to find the solution to the problem as does I'm sure this growing community of users...
Also I noticed the dell support email address was removed from my previous post. Here it is in jpg form...
HT.

2022-09-25T22:29:12+00:00 Hello Guys,
I've been having this same problem with the Dell XPS 9560 for about 4 months now. I have uninstalled and re-install several drivers for the Nvidia and the Intel GPU's but no success. Just like everyone else mentioned here, the problem started after a specific Windows update. Initially I tried rolling back updates but after every blue screen crash, all the restore point also disappear from backups & restore.
I already have about 5 crash today. I bought the laptop directly from Dell when it was released. It was the highest configuration and cost me a fortune. Dell need to help resolve this issue. I felt cheated and this is unfair.
Dell where are thou?
Microsoft and Dell please come help us out.
