I am still waiting for an update to fix this issue that made my icons go like this and have no control panel (refer to screenshot on previous pages). With my medical conditions I don't really want to enter safe mode and start again. Because the PC is working fine apart from the icon issue + the control panel going MIA. The fact is apart from the security update not going through before, like I reported, it was working fine and getting all other updates. Even still gets other updates from outside MS (and does checks for Windows Updates atm).

2022-06-14T20:54:42+00:00 try to stop any 3rd-party firewall and anti virus and then try to update again (after the update finished you can start the firewall and antivirus). that solved the problem for me.

2022-06-14T22:22:11+00:00 Hi, thank you for this but it wasn’t the solution for me.
For me the solution was to open the Windows Security App and to “Reset” it, which fixed the problem for good.

2022-06-15T01:27:09+00:00 I attempted the fix given by the admin and had no errors and none after the scans and rebooted several times. I then went to the Windows Security application and went to Device performance and heath and enabled the windows time service which was disabled before hand(I never disabled it to my knowledge) and tried the update again and it was able to install no problem. I hope this can help others but I must have just got lucky. I am also running windows 11 I don't know if there is a solution for windows 10 if the problem exists there as well. If you require ay help let me know and I'll do the best I can
