Using procmon from SysInternals I saw that it tried to write to C:\Windows\System32\SecurityHealth using my logged in account. By giving my account Modify permissions to that folder the update went fine.

To give myself Modify permissions, I had to first set myself as owner of the folder. After the update had successfully been applied I I removed my write permissions and set SYSTEM as owner again.

Simply access the Windows Security app settings (right-click on Windows Security in the Start Menu). Once there, hit "Repair" and "Reset". Then, attempt the Windows update again. Worked for me! This also worked a charm for me, Thank you Shakusky

    1. Search "Windows Security" in Start. Open it.
    2. Click on "Virus & Threat Protection".
    3. Under Virus & threat protection settings, click "Manage Settings".
    4. Turn off Real Time Protection.
    5. Go to Windows Update & retry the buggy update.

I've retried several times in the past couple of days. This problem slows my computer - like every issue with Windows updates, including when it needs to update...

Please fix this! I'm not interested in doing de-bugging for Microsoft. Clean up your applications, before releasing them, like software companies did 30 years ago. You have the public de-bug your software, and it's ridiculous. Microsoft makes enough money to pay people to do this.

The last thing I wanted to do today is deal with another MS Windows 11 hassle.
