Many persistent errors in Event Viewer after Windows 11 build 22598.ni_release.220408-1503: "Autopilot.dll wil error was reported"

I used to be part of the the Windows 11 Insider Beta channel. After updating to build 22598.ni_release.220408-1503 I began to see the same error in Event Viewer extremely frequently:

The errors are all the same and read as follows:

Autopilot.dll WIL error was reported.

HRESULT: 0x80070491

File: onecoreuap\admin\moderndeployment\autopilot\dll\dllmain.cpp, line 128

Message: NULL

I have never used any program called Autopilot or Modern Deployment. After seeing this problem I immediately left the insider program and am now queued for enrollment. However no new Windows update has happened and these errors persist. How do I prevent these errors?

    Because they don't know what "a.." stand for! 😂

    I think they do know at MS. I have other examples where they don't move their A..! For them, we the users are a bunch of idiots. So why take care of us resp. take us seriously?

    Good day everyone,

    I had this problem to the point where more than half of the errors in my Event Viewer were about this issue. Since I upgraded my PC from 10 to 11 I wanted to do a fresh install of Windows. I purchased a new SSD for my PC and did a fresh install of Windows 11 and now I do not have the problem. I did the re-install of Windows on May 31, 2023 and there is not one error due to the Autopilot.dll. I know re-installing Windows is a pain but it did work. I would hope that Microsoft would provide a fix for this. If the error comes back I do not want to do a fresh install again.

    Luky guy, but do not bet on it that it does not come back. I do NOT want to reinstall W10 just because of this error. I want MS to move its a.. and fix it for everyone. Why is that so dammed difficult for MS?

    I was poking about last night regarding this annoyance and although I don't have any real detail to explain, I'm curious....Does everyone here have Visual Studio installed?

    1. No Visual Studio but VS Code, which could be close enough
    2. I have logged my computer into my work at one point but it is not currently connected though 'Work or School'
    3. The device is not managed through my work, I am an admin there and manage the inventory.
    4. I do run Teams via a Work account. System Specs:
    • OS Ver: Win 11 - 10.0.22621.1778
    • Threadripper 2950 on an Asus X399-E using 1206 bios. ( Waiting for 3rd party validation as the bios was released in the middle of all the other Bios 'changes' made for the Ryzen 7000 chips. )
    • Nvidia RTX 2080
