Many persistent errors in Event Viewer after Windows 11 build 22598.ni_release.220408-1503: "Autopilot.dll wil error was reported"

I have found similar information before and agree that this appears to be set up for corporate IT use primarily.

What I have not been able to track down is what does Line 128 information mean or give anyone. I would appreciate any ideas or guesses. Regards Don

You know any ideas or guesses that you may receive would be just that an idea or guess. You can bet that MS knows exactly what is causing this but the main issue is why they will not address this to users and if they are even going to fix it or just ignore it and have us live with it. Maybe just maybe it may be fixed with the next upgrade for Win10 and Win11. I have an HP OMEN Desktop that I use for photo editing and graphics and not gaming and have yet to see these errors on my machine. I got tired of dealing with it on my wife's HP Envy Laptop so I just turned off the Event Viewer section where the errors are being logged. If MS fixes the error then they do or they don't either way but I am not going to waste any more of my time jumping in and out of rabbit holes trying to track down the reason for the errors.

That registry key looks to be controlling the Event Log collection of the error message itself, which would prevent you from seeing the error in Event Viewer, but unfortunately doesn't address the actual issue or cause. Just letting you know if you didn't already.

I had this problem after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Maybe it will help others, look for the following keys in the registry (regedit.exe):

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels\Microsoft-Windows-ModernDeployment-Diagnostics-Provider/Admin

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels\Microsoft-Windows-ModernDeployment-Diagnostics-Provider/Autopilot

In keys is the variable "Enabled" with value "1". I overwrote it to "0" and the error no longer appears.

ATTENTION. What works for me may not work for you. I don't know where else it can show up. Do not repeat this procedure without consulting Microsoft.

Of course, they almost never act on anything reported there. Just look at the issues people are reporting on the Taskbar (filter Category to Desktop Environment and then Subcategory to Taskbar). The top Trending problem is about their having removed the ability to "never combine" taskbar icons. It's been there for over a year with almost 17,000 upvotes and 1886 comments. Yet, not only have they never fixed the issue, they've never officially responded to it.

If this is so, why not eliminate Feedback??? How many people work there? One or two? Even from here MS does not respond! This is reckless and aimed at the user (consumer). It should be investigated! How many people have posted here for the problem? But NO RESPNSE by Microsoft. What is wrong with Microsoft????
