Windows 11 is keep installing the wrong AMD driver

I installed the proper version on the amd website with auto detect and windows 11 is keep installing the old driver which is causing graphics problems. How to stop this ?

    There are a lot of interesting sidelines to this thread. For those of you who have not yet read this, go over to the AMD Community and read this thread: https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/radeon-software-and-driver-version-do-not-match-solution/m-p/512933. In my opinion it is long past the time to slap the cuffs on Microsoft for their monopolistic anti-competitive activities. Certainly there are a lot of excuses, but the bottom line is that they have been doing this for decades with more and more acceleration and expansion as time goes on.

    This issue is still here as of 28/03/2023.

    Windows 11 22H2, 5600G series APU. Fresh ISO install and bare system simply connected to a network. No DSIM / extra streamlined drivers.

    > Disabling driver packages in Windows update (all of them) in Group Policy does NOT work

    > Disabling driver updates for the Hardware ID in Group Policy does NOT work

    > Pausing updates for a certain amount of time does NOT work

    Another core problem is that when going from Windows 10 to Windows 11 you LOSE the ability to select what updates to install. No matter the setting, Windows 11 force-installs everything. We NEED an option to choose and to stop the downloads. Some graphics drivers are over 1 GB in size, downloading this on every power cycle is completely unacceptable.

    All of our commercial and customer integrations now have to have Windows updates forcibly crippled, as the volume of support tickets has gone through the roof on this issue. As a result we are considering stopping OEM / Retail licensing all together whilst the update lock outs are not working.

    Got the same issue and i solved it as following:

    1. Update Windows to the latest version with all the drivers
    2. Install the Radeon drivers
    3. After the restart run "Windows Update" and let it install the "wrong driver" again.
    4. Go to device manager and roll-back to the AMD driver (This actual flags the Microsoft variant of the AMD driver to never install).
    5. Check with Windows update if the "Wrong driver" still installs. If not, you are good and the new driver is installed.
    6. If you like the full package with the Adrenalin package then run the AMD installer again and reboot.

    All other solutions given here did not work for me.
