Windows 11 is keep installing the wrong AMD driver

I installed the proper version on the amd website with auto detect and windows 11 is keep installing the old driver which is causing graphics problems. How to stop this ?

    Did you read the post immediately before yours by W0nd3rwi3ss, Damian? Did you try that solution? I have and it works wonderfully.

    Thank you so much W0nd3rwi3ss - a brilliant idea and this has finally stopped Windows Update from putting that horrible old driver from 2021 in place of my shiny new AMD provided driver. Next I need to work out how to stop Dell's Support Assistant software from offering to update to their approved driver as well but at least that is only offering the driver and isn't forcing it on me (so I just ignore it).

    Got the same issue and i solved it as following:

    1. Update Windows to the latest version with all the drivers
    2. Install the Radeon drivers
    3. After the restart run "Windows Update" and let it install the "wrong driver" again.
    4. Go to device manager and roll-back to the AMD driver (This actual flags the Microsoft variant of the AMD driver to never install).
    5. Check with Windows update if the "Wrong driver" still installs. If not, you are good and the new driver is installed.
    6. If you like the full package with the Adrenalin package then run the AMD installer again and reboot.

    All other solutions given here did not work for me.

    This issue is still here as of 28/03/2023.

    Windows 11 22H2, 5600G series APU. Fresh ISO install and bare system simply connected to a network. No DSIM / extra streamlined drivers.

    > Disabling driver packages in Windows update (all of them) in Group Policy does NOT work

    > Disabling driver updates for the Hardware ID in Group Policy does NOT work

    > Pausing updates for a certain amount of time does NOT work

    Another core problem is that when going from Windows 10 to Windows 11 you LOSE the ability to select what updates to install. No matter the setting, Windows 11 force-installs everything. We NEED an option to choose and to stop the downloads. Some graphics drivers are over 1 GB in size, downloading this on every power cycle is completely unacceptable.

    All of our commercial and customer integrations now have to have Windows updates forcibly crippled, as the volume of support tickets has gone through the roof on this issue. As a result we are considering stopping OEM / Retail licensing all together whilst the update lock outs are not working.
