Why did Windows 11 suddenly become slow?

I received notification from Windows a few months ago and upgraded to Windows 11. It was fast and smooth in the beginning, but in the last two-three weeks, it has become significantly slow. It annoys me a lot, simply file browsing has been painful. It takes forever to open a web site on Chrome. This never was the case before, my laptop used to be really fast. I am suspicious that this is because of recent Windows 11 updates. I just want to go back Windows 10 and have my laptop speed back.

Another issue in Windows 11 that annoys me a lot is the tabs in taskbar. They frequently disappear. For instance, if I have 5 apps open, suddenly all the icons in taskbar disappear and I have to restart file explorer to fix it.

How do I fix all these permanently, or go back to Windows 10?

    Seems like many of us have the same problem without a solution. It would appear reasonable Microsoft would want to solve this problem. I am still looking for a solution and will continue to monitor the message board until it is solved.

    Thanks for your messages.

    The strangest thing is that MS just does not seem to bother.

    Releasing updates which has not gone thru the full testing cycle perhaps on various systems!

    A systinfo run shows >90% memory in use (8GB)!! With No Applications OPEN!!!

    Even after installation of consolidated Win 11 updates as suggested by some here.

    Now even Win10 reset shows the same issues!

    Funny thing is that on IOS which is oh so stable, the same MS Office packages work at blazing speeds! Having got used to the Win keyboard options and shortcuts, stuck to this horrible WIN OS. Plus the cost of having an Apple Desktop puts one off. MS seems to be exploiting customers like us to the hilt!

    Looking forward to some early solution.

    Wondering whether an increased RAM will help

    Exactly! I still have major problems with that stupid message that pops up about "not responding". It won't let my PAID subscription for Ad Remover do it's thing anymore.

    My HP is not even a year old and should not be acting like it's one of the first ever built.

    MS IS BECOMING LESS AND LESS USER FRIENDLY EVEY HOUR!!!

    Ryzen 9 6900HX Here ... I just upgraded to a factor 4 faster laptop (Had an i5 8250U) ... clean install from manufacturer. After a couple of updates, lags, slowness and a lot of annoying tips and advertising. Not amazing.

    • I notice MS Edge is trying to push stuff towards us with worthless new sidebars, widgets, features.
    • Windows store... massive loading times and repaint overtime issues. (I see som ReactJS like behaviour)
    • MSN bugs me in my the taskbar and search page of edge with worthless clickbait.

    Compared to my older i5, not much difference, so I guess a lot of web-requests behind the scene.

    They did however implement a new feature 'Dont disturb/focus', which doesn't help duh, so I hereby request a 'Dont Bug Me Seriously!' feature.

    And well, I guess Apple already knows and is expecting new clients. Pfff.... I just bought.... :'(

    Thanks for your prompt response as below. I did run the update, it has partially solved the issue. Apps often end up with NOT RESONDING (like MS Excel, Outlook, Word, Pictures opening in Photos app etc. Opening & Saving files still take up a longer time compared to situation before reformt and fresh install+update to latest Win11 updates. Wondering whether to do the whole exercise again.

    I resolved my issue by installing the Cumulative Update for Windows 11 version 22H2 for x64. It took a while, but fixed all of my issues.
