Hi,

I am using the latest version of Windows 11 and I have found it out that the App & Browser Control is missing in the Windows Security. Although it is shown in settings but in the app its completely missing after the update. When I clicked it there is no response for it. Kindly check it in your system too and help me out. I am on my Windows 11 Beta version.

I prefer do not use command prompt. I just wanna know if I update to 22H2, and the securityhealth folder version is correct, will the bug auto fixed? From my understanding, MS pushed a wrong update to 21H2 which only suit for 22H2. Thus the bug should automaticly gone when I update system to 22H2 right?

You could still have a problem if you already received 2208 and/or 2209 updates.

Check the folder I told you earlier to see what you have in there. How difficult is that?

If you only have 2109 and 2207 then yes, updating to 22H2 will fix the bug, but if you also have 2208 and/or 2209 you are out of luck and updating to 22H2 will not fix the problem, it will just create a new one, where "Smart App Control" is missing from "App and browser control" screen.

With 22H2 you should see this in the snapshot below, but if you have 2208 and or 2209 updates it will be missing. That is the second bug that was added in 22H2 with the wrong updates. πŸ€£πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I only got 2207 folder. Interesting thing is, both two laptops got 2207 folder, all they installed is 21H2, 22000.1098, but only one missing the app and broswer control

2207 contains this one which is for 22H2, maybe one machine has that folder, but it was not actually installed. 😎

An easy way to check what is actually installed is by using this Power Shell command below and it will show which version is actually running.

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -allusers | Select Name, PackageFullName

The correct one for 21H2 was in 2109 and it was showing 1000.22000.251.0 as per the snapshot below:

Anyway, in your case if you upgrade to 22H2 you should be fine.

    Edit:

I just checked on my 21H2 system and it had both updates, 2109 and 2207. That is why it was missing App and browser control. 🀣🀣

It depends on which of the 2 is actually installed and running.

At the time I still had 21H2, I fixed it by removing the 2207 folder and reinstalling the correct version using the .appx in the 2109 folder.

Yet, here is what it had on a second 21H2 system with all 4 updates, you can see the dates when W.U. screwed up and downloaded them.

Only the 2109 is the valid one for 21H2 πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

This is what is installed on 21H2 after a clean install before it gets any updates, SecurityHealth folder is completely empty:

Thanks for additional editing info, I think I would just stay at 21H2 then waiting for MS push a update to fix this stupid bug. I was about to upgrade to 22H2 to solve the bug, however I think MS will add other bugs later. So fix by myself is useless, it will happens again. Just ignor this bug. If there wasn't a notifiction shows something didn't enable, I won't find this bug. what I need is a green check on the security icon, thats it lol
