My Headphone Jack no longer works after upgrading to Windows 11. It works if I have it plugged in and reboot, but as soon as I unplug it stops until a reboot....it does not automatically detect it

Hi! My PC wasn’t detecting my headphone jack when I plugged it in. However, it started detecting it after I performed the driver enable and disable process, and also after restarting my device. The issue seems to be with the driver rather than the hardware. It was quite irritating, especially when I was working on important tasks

    system Manufacturer: Dell Inc.

    System Model: Inspiron 15 5510

Please resolve my issue as soon as possible.

I am having the same issue with an ASUS. It flat out will not recognize the headphone jack.

I had this problem when upgrading to Windows 11.

It turned out to be caused by iTunes.

My solution was to go to iTunes "edit" "preferences" "playback" and change "play audio using" from Windows Audio session to Direct sound.

Hope this helps someone. It took me a couple of days to find this fix.

I had the same issue as everyone else here: plugged-in headphones would only work if there were plugged-in when the computer booted. If plugged they would not be detected again until after a restart.

    What worked for me:

    1. Go to "Settings"
    2. Go to "Apps"
    3. Go to "Startup"
    4. Turn ON Waves MaxxAudio Service Application
    5. Restart your computer and plug/unplug/re-plug your headphones: everything should work now.

This is the only solution that actually worked! Thank you!
