Headphone Jack not Recognized in Windows 11

My Headphone Jack no longer works after upgrading to Windows 11. It works if I have it plugged in and reboot, but as soon as I unplug it stops until a reboot....it does not automatically detect it

    I had the same issue with my Dell XPS 15 (Upgraded to Windows 11 and my headphones stopped working). I Googled "Dell support", downloaded Dell's SupportAssist. SupportAssist scanned my laptop and found 9 software updates, RealTek Audio was classified as an "Urgent" update. I let it install all of the updates, rebooted, and my headphone-jack works normally again.

    Uninstalling/installing via Device Manager didn't work at all. Windows just re-installed the same bad drivers.

    Same problem with a Dell XPS 13 and Windows 11.

    The only fix is, guess what... reboot the PC, with the headphones plugged during the startup.

    If I forget plugging them before restart, they are not detected afterward by Windows and won't appear in the device manager.

    I keep my output jack plugged into a set of Boze speakers. When Windows 11 decided it was time to invade my laptop, suddenly the jack doesn't work. I went back to Windows 10, and now the jack still doesn't work! Hope you can help. thanks

    The microphone picks up sounds in the room, yes - that is, after all, what it's intended to do. You shouldn't get feedback through the mic, though, AND - there are some situations where I've had awful feedback, hearing myself a few seconds after I've said something.

    That's typically (in my opinion, anyway) a problem with the platform, not the microphone. It never happens on Zoom or Skype, for instance, but it seems more related to certain proprietary sites - I was doing an interview for a medical study a few weeks ago, and they were using a special site that I'd never seen before, and we had to do the audio over phone because the feedback on my end was impossible to deal with. I've had the same thing happen when facilitating a virtual workshop on another less-well-known platform.

    I assume you know you can turn down the gain on the back of the Yeti, right?
