Headphone Jack not Recognized in Windows 11

I keep my output jack plugged into a set of Boze speakers. When Windows 11 decided it was time to invade my laptop, suddenly the jack doesn't work. I went back to Windows 10, and now the jack still doesn't work! Hope you can help. thanks

I have a similar issue in that My headphones and microphone are not being listed in my device manager settings or input/output devices in the sound menu or anywhere else I look and all the advice I've seen on the topic assumes that my device would be listed in at least one of these places, there is no physical damage to my 3.5 combined port and it doesn't seem to make any difference whether or not my device is plugged in, simply nothing happens. I've been looking for any solution to the problem that doesn't involve me having to go for a multiple hour drive to have it looked at without any guarantee that this would even solve my problem. The headset is brand new so It has to be a problem with my PC, and just to reiterate none of the previous advice in this thread is helpful since my device simply doesn't exist as far as the computer is concerned, no new audio or input drivers or anything, updating my PC's default realtek drivers didn't change anything, and the troubleshooter only finds my internal audio and input devices. My system manufacturer is Acer and the model is Nitro AN525-54 in case that helps at all. Oh and I can pinpoint the issue to the 3.5 mm mic/audio port as I have a USB headset that works just fine as is, I just bought a new headset because The USB headset is worn out and promptly encountered this frustrating issue with no obvious answer as to what I can even do about it.

My Headphone Jack no longer works after upgrading to Windows 11. It works if I have it plugged in and reboot, but as soon as I unplug it stops until a reboot....it does not automatically detect it

I have the same issue, this happened after some Windows Update.. now roll back realtek driver, restore point - nothing works. Mine is a Dell Inspiron 14 5410 laptop..

Working with Dell Support Assist, but their last solution is to reset the laptop to factory setting !!!!

I had the same issue as everyone else here: plugged-in headphones would only work if there were plugged-in when the computer booted. If plugged they would not be detected again until after a restart.

What worked for me:

1. Go to "Settings"
2. Go to "Apps"
3. Go to "Startup"
4. Turn ON Waves MaxxAudio Service Application
5. Restart your computer and plug/unplug/re-plug your headphones: everything should work now.

I don't have the MaxxAudio Service - and after reading its reviews and seeing how often people complain about it slowing everything down, not sure I want to install it. I'll be curious to know if others have good results with this?

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, you can proceed with the steps below.

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controllers

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

-Right click and Uninstall

Once uninstalled, go to this link and install the driver.

Once downloaded and installed restart your computer and check the audio.
