My Headphone Jack no longer works after upgrading to Windows 11. It works if I have it plugged in and reboot, but as soon as I unplug it stops until a reboot....it does not automatically detect it

    WOW!

Not, Dell Support nor Microsoft Support could figure out the solution. I am surprised at how simple the fix was after endlessly trying every other method prescribed by Dell. Only took me 4 hours of trying to finally find your blessing of a comment...

Thank You on behalf of the 100s of other people with the same issue!

    You're welcome.

The microphone picks up sounds in the room, yes - that is, after all, what it's intended to do. You shouldn't get feedback through the mic, though, AND - there are some situations where I've had awful feedback, hearing myself a few seconds after I've said something.

That's typically (in my opinion, anyway) a problem with the platform, not the microphone. It never happens on Zoom or Skype, for instance, but it seems more related to certain proprietary sites - I was doing an interview for a medical study a few weeks ago, and they were using a special site that I'd never seen before, and we had to do the audio over phone because the feedback on my end was impossible to deal with. I've had the same thing happen when facilitating a virtual workshop on another less-well-known platform.

I assume you know you can turn down the gain on the back of the Yeti, right?

Me too. Tried everything listed. Clearly there's a problem that needs to be addressed.

WORKAROUND: I use a Blue Yeti microphone that has a headphone jack in its base. If I plug the headphone into the Blue Yeti and then plug the microphone into its USB port, the headphone works.

Not the best solution, but it does work.

Thank you for this tip! Just bought a Blue Yeti and a new headset so I was very lucky to find your comment.

Have you found a way to not hear yourself through your headphones due to it being connected to the microphone? I muted the mic for now so I can't hear myself clicking my mouse but when I need to use my mic I hope there is a way to not be hearing myself.

    Tp fix your headphone recognition,

go to control panel, click on devices and printer.

you should see headphone on there. click on headphone and on hardware,

go to properties. then drivers , update drivers from there. That should fix the problem,

    it did for me.
