WIFI 6 (Mediatek MT7921) disconnects randomly

I just finished building a new pc and installed all the appropriate drivers and software. I have a WIFI 6 router which I have had for a while now and never had any issues with and the motherboard I am using is the ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II AM4 AMD B550 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard. It utilizes the Mediatek MT7921 WIFI card.

The WIFI will randomly disconnect but it says its still connected. Oddly enough I can still load Google and Youtube but nothing else and even then that is intermittent and extremely slow.

Drivers: Ive tried updating, rolling back, deleting and fresh install. no dice

Settings: Ive tried disabling IPV6, Changing from AX to AC to N, etc, Disabled the Bluetooth since its the same adapter. no dice.

Ive even checked to see on another device if my pc is connected to my router while its in this disconnected state and it shows that its connected to my router but it will not connect properly to the internet. I have not had this issue with any other device on my network so I am to conclude that it is most likely to do with this new pc and this Mediatek WIFI Adapter.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    I had the same issue as yours with my newly purchased Asus ROG Strix G15 (2021 Model).

    I can confirm that @jeremyb777's solution worked like a charm for me. I did the following steps:

    1. Download the "MediaTek-FORCED-10x64-7961_3.00.01.1309_lenovo-drp" from this website(DRP is a great archive of device drivers)
    2. Unpack the ZIP archive. Press WIN KEY + X, then hit "Device Manager"
    3. Under network adapters, right click Mediatek MT7921 & hit "Uninstall device", then check driver uninstall confirmation in the next dialog box.
    4. Restart your pc, open device manager again, right click Mediatek MT7921 under Network Adapters and hit "Update Drivers"
    5. Click the browse option in the next prompt and select the drivers you downloaded (and unarchived) in the first step, then wait for it to finish the installation (you should get a success prompt).

    This should fine for you too, if you have a similar configuration laptop. I have Windows 11 Home installed (with latest patches).

    Thanks to you i have fixed this problem. I have Asus M16 (2021) and wifi card disconnected random. Now it's ok. I hope that windows update doesn't blow everything up again....

    Just to let you know the microsoft "experts" have been useless on this matter. All of us in here are just other users that have the same issue and we are trying to help others out.

    Update on my router theory: got a new one from my ISP and my PC is still disconnecting. I just installed the driver from @jeremyb777 fingers crossed.

    Unbelievable, since I updated windows update it went back to disconnect the wifi by itself. I am speechless.

    Hi Ben,

    I had the same issue as well. My computer went back to restarting itself pretty much anytime that it was left unattended or put to sleep. I uninstalled the driver and downloaded the other one that somebody provided through a website called DRM or something like that (if you read previous responses, you will eventually find it). It was a bit newer. Since then I have had no problems again. It seems like it is a driver/windows compatibility problem... but time will tell.
