WIFI 6 (Mediatek MT7921) disconnects randomly

I had the same issue as yours with my newly purchased Asus ROG Strix G15 (2021 Model).

I can confirm that @jeremyb777's solution worked like a charm for me. I did the following steps:

1. Download the "MediaTek-FORCED-10x64-7961_3.00.01.1309_lenovo-drp" from this website(DRP is a great archive of device drivers)
2. Unpack the ZIP archive. Press WIN KEY + X, then hit "Device Manager"
3. Under network adapters, right click Mediatek MT7921 & hit "Uninstall device", then check driver uninstall confirmation in the next dialog box.
4. Restart your pc, open device manager again, right click Mediatek MT7921 under Network Adapters and hit "Update Drivers"
5. Click the browse option in the next prompt and select the drivers you downloaded (and unarchived) in the first step, then wait for it to finish the installation (you should get a success prompt).

This should fine for you too, if you have a similar configuration laptop. I have Windows 11 Home installed (with latest patches).

Are you able to check if plugging in an ethernet cable works fine?

But also, I don't know if there's logs on Windows but EventViewer might show something to go on. It could be possible that the router log might also show what the issue is.

Routers are quite complex so unless you try a different router for wifi I wouldn't rule out a bug here from the router. They do have bugs and other issues.

Also you can test other connection types from changing how it works on the router from its browser interface like quickly trying no wifi security, different encryption/security, etc. Some incompatibilities exist that way. There's no way to know exactly how issues will manifest.

Mediatek drivers are quite decent from what I know with the chips I use from them. This is Windows 10 so I'd expect it to be quite stable. But, I'm sure someone could run into a bug. Maybe update the BIOS if you haven't as that's tied to the internal hardware.

Also possible for it to be Windows networking code. Some people have weird configurations with problems. But, I'd expect something else instead of this.

unfortunately I couldn't get that driver to download. there was only one website that had that driver and it wouldn't load properly.

I have a newly purchased HP Pavillion laptop with the wifi adapter (Mediatek MT7921). It would frequently lose internet connection, then not show any networks available, then seem to disappear for a few minutes, and then reappear. I believe windows was detecting that the device would stop working, then attempt to restart the device driver. I tried everything... updating drivers, uninstalling, reinstalling, as well as pretty much everything that you said. I eventually started getting Blue Screen of Death. The strange thing is that when I ran a component test in the BIOS, it would always pass.

I even performed a couple of HP Cloud Recovery Factory Resets... but this didn't fix it either. Even before I ran any updates or installed any programs, the problem persisted on a factory reset machine. I began to theorize that maybe the driver that HP included with their recovery image and on their driver server was somehow corrupted or defective. I then determined to download a Windows 11 ISO directly from microsoft (and not HP) and let microsoft find drivers. This went well until I could not complete the setup process because it didn't detect any wifi networks. Turns out that the Windows ISO didn't have a proper driver either. There was a way to open up a command line and install a driver through there. So I looked online and found another driver (not sure from which provider) which worked enough for me to install Windows 11. But then again, on a fresh installation of Windows 11, I had the same problem. I then decided to try another driver. I downloaded a driver called "MediaTek-FORCED-10x64-7961_3.00.01.1309_lenovo-drp" that I found on a third party site. Upon closer review, I think it actually might be for a slightly different adapter... Anyways, I removed the other driver and updated it to this one and kept my fingers crossed to see what would happen.

Well, 30 minutes went by, then an hour, then 2, then several... then overnight... then all day so far today I have not had a single problem. Normally, if I open up windows event viewer, I will see tons of errors related to the networking and internet. However, there are little to no errors being reporting and the internet has not stopped working once. This makes me think that my theory may have been correct... that maybe there are some faulty drivers being provided through HP and maybe even ASUS... I don't know... However, I would encourage you to try finding the driver that I mentioned and give it a shot. I was about to give up on this computer and/or just install linux, but this seems to have solved the problem.

I have got the same issue with a asus tuf gaming 17 inch laptop best it to reset the card in device manager. I use devmanview from http://www.nirsoft.net/ it can create a batch file to disable to re enable the driver which forces it to reset.
