How can I turn off the sync function my Microsoft account from my windows 11 laptop?

I really want to un sync my windows 11 laptop from my desktop computer connected with the same Microsoft account. Every time I delete something on my laptop to free up space I don’t want it to be deleted from desktop. How do I change this? Please and thank you for your time.

    Your directions do not work for me:

    "Open Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings
    Under Sync your settings on This PC, move the slider to the left to Turn Off"

    Takes me to a page with a list of slide bars that fall under the title of "Personal". They are all turned off. MS is still syncing. Now what?

    If I open settings, accounts there is no sync your settings there.

    In Windows 11, it seems you now have to go to settings>accounts>system>account setttings>windows backup>one driver settings>one drive folder syncing>manage synch settings. Turn off syncing for whatever folders you want there.

    Open the One Drive App and look for the Cloud icon on the top right.

    Click on Settings (not Manage Storage)

    You'll be presented with this... de-select Desktop (and whatever else you want)

    Hey everyone, I had the same problem with Windows 11 but I managed to get rid of it. So I found the best way was to simply uninstall it from your computer. To do this I did the following:

    1. In the search bar on your start bar next to the windows icon, type in apps. This should bring up app settings. It should be the 1st thing that comes up.
    2. Click on apps on the left side of the menu.
    3. Installed apps
    4. Scroll down until you see Microsoft OneDrive. its a bit hidden but keep a lookout for OneDrive.
    5. Click on the 3 dots (...) and choose uninstall, that will take OneDrive off your computer.

    I found that OneDrive was causing me a lot of issues and being a photographer, I need to work off my drive directly, not OneDrive. That was causing some issues with photoshop and lightroom and I didn't know why until I realized it was trying to do everything with OneDrive, simply because it kept syncing and saving everything to it instead of my actual hard drive.

    I don't know why Microsoft made it harder to find where to remove apps, but because I work with computers a lot and even built one, I know where to find things.
