How can I turn off the sync function my Microsoft account from my windows 11 laptop?

I really want to un sync my windows 11 laptop from my desktop computer connected with the same Microsoft account. Every time I delete something on my laptop to free up space I don’t want it to be deleted from desktop. How do I change this? Please and thank you for your time.

    Hi, Jst attmptd to trn off sync. U can't... 1) Go to Settings 2) Click on Accounts (U wll nt fnd th sync icon) 3) Type sync into the search box 4) Chs OneDrive folder syncing, thn Mng Sync Sttgs. U wll gt a list of docs, pics, dsktp, msc, vdeos; if u trn off docs, pics or dsktp, thn sv chgs, thy trn rght bck on. Are we still in America???

    I get to "OneDrive folder syncing"

    small box on the right shows 

   "Set Up syncing" 

        I click on that - now shows

    "Backup folders on this PC"

    this is not what I need "turn off 

        syncing"

    (possible not to use, your hard to follow abbreviations?)

    I am in the UK.

    To stop Sync, simply sign out of the account. It took me about an hour and numerous internet searches, reading through this page and others to get the simple answer. FU microsoft

    Hi, I cannot unsync my windows 11 laptop with my wifes windows 11. She keeps getting my startup tabs and it deletes hers. I dont have the option: open settings>accounts>sync my settings. How can it turn off syncing?

    yea, right! You from Microsoft just keep getting in peoples computers and do what you want to do and just turn it back on and that's why I have the Distrist Attorne's office on it and soon the President of the United Dtates
