How can I turn off the sync function my Microsoft account from my windows 11 laptop?

I really want to un sync my windows 11 laptop from my desktop computer connected with the same Microsoft account. Every time I delete something on my laptop to free up space I don’t want it to be deleted from desktop. How do I change this? Please and thank you for your time.

    Try looking under windows backup. That is where I found sync setting on my pc. Then turn off sync.

    I’m on an apple Ipad and I want to unsync my two accounts on Microsoft bing how do you do that? It’s all so annoying I did not sync it in the first place it’s so annoying!

    There are a couple of things to do as there are two syncing methods:
    The 1st method is the account itself via windows -
    whereas previously advised by others on here, go to account , privacy etc and slide all the sliders to the left.

    2nd. If you STILL have the GREEN SYNC icon under the account/profile name then it is likely the CLOUD/ONE DRIVE that is causing this -(even if you are not logged in/using One drive)

    The super simple method is to go to the Application Tray in the Lower right part of your taskbar and then RIGHT CLICK the ONE DRIVE icon - Click on the settings wheel and then select UNLINK THIS DEVICE -

    1. Open the system tray icon. Open/Right click "ONE DRIVE" icon, Click on the gear icon then choose "Settings" option.
    2. Then under the Accounts tab select the "Unlink this PC" option.
    3. Follow the on-screen prompts to unlink your account and close the Window.

    Boom! you will now be fully unsynced and the GREEN "syncing" icon will have disappeared.

    Hope this helps as it worked fully for me on WIN 11

    Turning sync off is one of two significant problems I have. As soon as I get some time (Hey! It could happen!), I'm starting to transition to Linux.

    Microsoft puts all this new cr** in their OS and makes it active by default; and only someone with an unlimited amount of either knowledge, intellect, or time can figure out how the hell to turn off what they don't want. Like many of you, I am hitting the limit of my patience. It takes me HOURS and HOURS to figure out how to do the simplest things that used to take me less than a minute to do. My work output has dropped so much that, if it weren't my own business, I would be fired.

    I've even had two "live" chat sessions with MS tech desk agents, and I still haven't been able to get the other of my two problems fixed.

    i do not have that option in settings

    My settings show nothing but options, upgrade, english

    i do not have any options that would help me follow all the instructions on line for sync or manage sync

    i am totally lost and have lost years of pics by deleting them on desktop

    i cant reach support bc there is no such thing at msft and i am the admin
