Windows 11 - "No such interface supported" error when opening an xml file to edit - should open in Code Writer.

The solution has been mentioned many time in the post...

UNINSTALL THE APP THAT IS GIVING PROBLEMS...

THEN... REINSTALL INSTALL IT...

PROBLEM SOLVED.

Make sure that the app is totally removed...

Open the app folder. Right click on the app, then uninstall.

Restart the machine, then reinstall the app.

If you still can't open your files, then try and relink the files to the app (OPEN WITH...) and it will remember and work again...

Not working with 3D viewer. It only opens stl files if ther are on the desktop, but not anywhere elese in the file system.

This is the long way around and I had to follow this for a different app I was also having issues with, Phone Link.
No way to uninstall it at all.
Followed a similar approach as this and reinstalled and everything is sorted.

So this could be your solution...

But make sure it's all done in Powershell as Admin otherwise it won't work...

If it still doesn't fix it for you, I would maybe then log a ticket with Microsoft Tech, or if possible, format/reinstall...
Or maybe use a different viewer.

OH! Does it maybe work in 3D Builder?

If so, then just use that for viewing...

I had the same problem with Windows 11, Paint 3D.

Would work fine from within the program but if I used explorer to access any image to load into paint 3d I got the error.

I fixed this by going into settings, apps and using the repair function on the paint 3d app.

I can now load up images to paint 3d through explorer without any issues.

Sorry, this worked initially but now it's reverted back to the same issue.

I tried the repair again and also a reinstall of paint 3d, nothing worked.

Tried making paint 3d the default app but nope...

Back to square one!...

Yep, same. Except it didn't work after repairing or uninstaling/reinstalling/restarting/updating windows.... everything.

And I don't have time to do the above mentioned with Powershell etc.

However, I did install 3d builder and changed the default opening app to this and the files open from from their original location no problem. Only in this app though. But it does work for quick viewing etc....

If using Paint 3d, best result I've had is to put the files on the desktop and open them from within the app, selecting desktop location.... this seemed the only workaround.

Same here. I'm using a book reader app downloaded from Microsoft App Store. I tried all the suggested solutions repair, reset, uninstall/reinstall and nothing worked. I even tried downloading two other similar apps from the app store, but ended up with the same issue. This is definitely a Windows 11 issue. Still hoping and waiting for a Windows update that will fix this.
