Windows 11 - "No such interface supported" error when opening an xml file to edit - should open in Code Writer.

I have just installed the latest Windows 11 patch and now my xml files show with a PDF image next to them. The application setting is set to automatically open with Code Writer so the image should be the Code Writer image not PDF. When I try to open it I get the error message "No such interface supported". I can open Code Writer and then open the file from within Code Writer.

How can I fix this please. I am not very computer literate, so a step by step solution would be appreciated.

    I am seeing this with many apps, even notepad. However, it is sporadic, sometimes notepad will open a text file, and other times the "No such interface supported" will pop up. Can't play MP4's at all. This all took place after updating 22H2.

    I notice that after updating to 22H2, I cannot open STL and PLY files with 3D Builder, 3D Viewer and so on from Explorer. But when I open a command prompt window and type the filenames with full path, I can open them with no problem. So I suspect this is a Explorer problem.

    As per all the other comments below, I'm having the same issue, bt mine is related to open STL or 3mf files with 3D Builder.

    What I have found is that this error only pops up if the files are in a folder or any other drive.

    If I dump the file direct to the desktop, it opens no problem.
    Another workaround, albeit a long one is:

    Right click the file
    Open With...
    Choose another App...
    Then tick the box at the bottom to Always use this app...
    But you have to do this every time!

    These issues only started after the last big update a few weeks back for Windows 11...

    Hope there is a simple fix for this as this is really annoying...

    OK, I tried the most basic of solution, I removed the app, reinstalled the app and it looks to be working fine for now!

    Should anything change, you guys will be the first to know!
