Windows 11 - "No such interface supported" error when opening an xml file to edit - should open in Code Writer.

I have just installed the latest Windows 11 patch and now my xml files show with a PDF image next to them. The application setting is set to automatically open with Code Writer so the image should be the Code Writer image not PDF. When I try to open it I get the error message "No such interface supported". I can open Code Writer and then open the file from within Code Writer.

How can I fix this please. I am not very computer literate, so a step by step solution would be appreciated.

    This is such BS - no Interface with windows 11 update. No easy wrok around. MIcrosoft $$##@@!

    Me too, even reset the system, qnother problem with Windows 11 is it ignores windows size settings. Specifically file explorer all run fields set to Maximised to no avail, REALLY frustrating

    Correct it does not seem to be an issue with any specific app, as it impacts more than Paint 3D. The error is not specific to that app.

    I think it may have something to do with the file/folders rights, etc.

    If I have an .jpg or .png on my desktop and click on it, it will open in Paint 3D without any issues.

    If I move that same .jpg or .png file to a different folder, I get the "No such interface supported" error.

    I have checked the file and folder privileges and they look correct. I have even added my personal account specifically (instead of indirectly with the "authenticated user" privileges) and still, that error comes up.

    Microsoft needs to look at their upgrade process (from 10 to 11) and see what may have been screwed up perhaps along the lines of file/folder rights. Something did not carry over properly.

    Have you tried to uninstall the app and reinstall?

    Seams to be the only fix for most apps right now.

    I've done exactly that. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem exists when trying to use "open with". JPeGs can be opened in app absolutely fine.
