Windows 11 - "No such interface supported" error when opening an xml file to edit - should open in Code Writer.

I have just installed the latest Windows 11 patch and now my xml files show with a PDF image next to them. The application setting is set to automatically open with Code Writer so the image should be the Code Writer image not PDF. When I try to open it I get the error message "No such interface supported". I can open Code Writer and then open the file from within Code Writer.

How can I fix this please. I am not very computer literate, so a step by step solution would be appreciated.

    Sorry mate.

    Might be worth getting an MS tech involved to take a deeper look.

    Or try a different viewer for your files.

    Yeah, tried uninstalling the apps. 3d viewer, paint 3d and 3d builder. Then restarting, then reinstalling, then choosing which app to open with, still the same issue opening from file explorer.

    Believe me, without going into some major exploring, I've tried everything.

    The only way that works is opening glb files from the desktop, apparently.

    Doesn't even work using "open" from file within the apps. As soon as it has to connect with explorer it goes wrong.

    Urghh!

    Same issue I was having.

    No update or fix. Had something to do with one of the big updates.

    Only current solution is to remove/uninstall the app and reinstall.
    This then resets all the permission and settings in the app.

    Loads of people having the same problem with different app and this was the only fix.

    I would suggest double checking that it's uninstalled properly and fully and then reinstall.
    Simply deleting the app doesn't work.

    Thanks, yes it opens from the desktop. So this is a workaround.

    However, I hope there's a fix/patch for this soon, as it's all GLB files opened from within File Explorer that's the issue.

    I really don't want to be storing all the files I need access to on my desktop.

    Cheer for the tips though anyway.

    I had the same trouble as you in the beginning.

    Try this.

    Put the file on your desktop, then try "open with".
    If nothing, then open 3D Viewer, then try drag and drop the file or try "File" then "Open"

    If it still doesn't work, double check that that file you trying to open isn't maybe corrupt.

    Might just be...
