Windows 11 - "No such interface supported" error when opening an xml file to edit - should open in Code Writer.

EXACTLY the same issue for me with Paint3D. Such a basic elementary app but I use it consistently/daily for a specific task. Now this is driving me insane. Curious what the fix will be here?

I'm having the same issue Sanket. I installed the latest patch for Windows 11 (Windows 11, version 22H2) and since then have been getting the "No such interface supported" error when attempting to open video files (typically mkv files) in windows explorer. I've checked some other types of files like text files and they opened with no issue. I havent performed an exhaustive test though to see if other file types are effected.

I've tried the links you've suggested and the issues persists. I've also done other research and most of the issues seem related to a dll needing to be re-registered. I've tried attempted registering all the suggested dlls but this did not resolve anything. The only I have not tried is installing a third party tool (like CCleaner - which I have used in the past) since I consider that a last resort. I like to think Microsoft can fix this themself.

Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

UPDATE - I've narrowed down the issue to the media player I was using "ACG Player". The latest windows 11 patch did break it, but it seems to be specific to this application.

I am seeing this with many apps, even notepad. However, it is sporadic, sometimes notepad will open a text file, and other times the "No such interface supported" will pop up. Can't play MP4's at all. This all took place after updating 22H2.

Hi everybody! Just wanted to give a little solution. After upgrading from Windows 10 to 11, I experienced the same incident where I couldn't open files with ".jpg" format and had to open them manually. However, I tried fiddling with the settings and I tried updating Microsoft Photos in the Microsoft Store, and now everything is working normally. So my suggestion, maybe you can try updating related applications through the Microsoft Store. Hopefully this is useful, and I hope the problems you all face can quickly get enlightened!^^

Have you tried setting your code writing app as default for the file type in Setttings > Apps > Default Apps > Choose Default by File Type?
