After updating older machines (2 yrs old) to the new version of windows 11(had previous version of windows 11 installed) or setting up new machines purchased earlier this month that have the new version of windows 11 installed I am no longer able to add printers from my print server. The error message I get is:

Operation cannot be completed (error 0x00000709). Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network. Has anyone else encountered this issue and is there a fix???

    Hello,

    Enabling All access and network discovery within a shared Public Network? That doesn't seems right. Until Windows update 22H2 it worked well within public space, even with network discovery off.

    I'm not comfortable with above suggestion. Is there a real solution to this? Thanks.

    If you set up your printer to be a static ip address it will save you a lot of trouble in the future. You also need to enable device discovery on your computer. You can always reset your computers network settings by removing/deleting your wifi saved settings and then add them again wich will require typing in the password and logging back on the network. also. if you are doing a direct connection to the printer via wifi check to see what the printers network band is on and what the ip address is set too. Older printers use IPV4 not IP6 and 2.5ghz on band n/g/b. it is possible that you are on band a/ac wich will not detect the printer [via wifi]. Try to log in to your printer on the network using the ip address of the printer. Double check your fire wall settings and set it to allow ip address/ program name. Printers can be "Fun“ with a capital "F" haha. Sometimes if you check the windows store you will find a printer app or the printers manufacturers web site they also have an app or something. Oh also make sure your printer is not in sleep mode.

    Hello Faheem_68, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that you are having problems with the printer in Windows 11;

    What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your printer?

    Initially I recommend that you try the following;

    Access the Control Panel;

    Click View by: and change to large icons;

    Click Network and Sharing Center;

    Click Change advanced sharing settings;

    Click on Private and activate the options: Enable network discovery, enable automatic configuration of devices connected to the network and Enable file and printer sharing;

    Click on Guest or Public and activate the options: Enable network discovery and Enable file and printer sharing;

    Click on All networks and enable the options: Enable sharing so that anyone with network access can read and write files in public folders and Disable password protected sharing;

    Click Save Changes;

    Now run the printer troubleshooter;

    Press Windows key + i and go to System;

    Click on Troubleshooting and then on Other Troubleshooters;

    Locate Printer and click Run on the right to start troubleshooting;

    Now check if the problem is fixed;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!
