Error 0X800f0922 when installing Windows update KB5012170

I have tried disabling the firewall and still receive the same error. Can anyone help solve this problem?

    Yes, the error is back. I hid the update once again.

    Hello. I am too impacted with this error. i thought that it was my fault but i understand now that microsoft , as usual, do bugs, AND do not inform people that their products do not work.

    For the microsoft people, i would suggest :

    • Have thorough testing of what you wrote
    • EXPLAIN the error instead of a code mysterious, documented nowhere, and that can be 3656 different case
    • TELL on your updates the meaning (Here secure boot, so am i concerned ?)
    • TELL people using Windows That a BUG exist and so they do not do research to avoid (i spent 3 days).

    It is incredible that microsoft, a company who sell in the world, has so little case of their users.

    I long asked myself what system was using NASA to send rockets.

    Linux.

    Finally Figured it out - it seems to be a boot disk format issue ... i changed my boot disk to GPT and it installs fine now... figured it out by fishing around on a friends computer that it installed fine on last year... !!!!!

    i have all the other Windows 11 needs covered except that i haven't enabled secure boot... and i was still able to get rid of the critter - may be that EUFI and GPT are the two critical factors for this update... MSI MPGx570gp nvmeWDgreen1Tb ...

    I've subscribed to this community topic and just got notified. Glad you and others got it worked out like I finally did. To be fair, the GPT requirement was actually explained earlier in this thread by 沉桀贺, rodnay, and myself and alluded to by others here. It's a hardware issue. Granted, Microsoft complicates the matter in their KB5012170 article by stating there is an "ongoing investigation" which implies an eventual possible fix. But there is NO FIX possible if your hardware doesn't meet the minimum requirements of the KB5012170 update. OEMs can't fix the issue with a BIOS update alone either. OEMs don't have control of the partition type of our boot drives. Like I implied before, it's just unfortunate that the Windows Update application doesn't recognize that a system doesn't meet the hardware requirements. If it did, Windows Update could simply SUPPRESS any mention of KB5012170 entirely for platforms that don't comply with ALL the system requirements like Secure Boot, TPM, UEFI, GPT partition (vs. MBR). Including that tidbit of info in their KB article months ago would have cleared up all the confusion.
