How to get the update

Starting today, the first major update to Windows 11 is now available for users who want to update. Our launch approach to Windows 11 leverages our well-established update systems and processes. The measured and phased rollout will offer the update via Windows Update when data shows that your device is ready, as our objective is to provide a quality update experience. We will initially ramp up the offering availability in the first weeks as we monitor quality signals. If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we may put a safeguard hold in place and not offer the update until that issue is resolved. To learn more about the status of the Windows 11 rollout, safeguard holds and which holds may be applied to your device, visitWindows release health.Learn more about the ways to install Windows 11.

Something has changed on 9/21/2022, looks like MS fixed the W.U. loop/error that was occurring after upgrading with MS ISO 22621.382.

I just tried this again about an hour ago upgrading from 22000.1042, used the same MS ISO that I used yesterday while online and checking for updates.

This time it went directly to 22621.521, W.U. downloaded directly kb5017321 during the upgrade process, no need for a second step from 22621.382 to 22621.521. 😊

I did not have to install kb5017321 separately or use any other workaround that I had to use yesterday to fix the W.U. loop/error problem. Problem solved, finally some progress. πŸ‘Œ

    Hi fg2001,

Thats a good thing for sure. I really didn't have any problems using the MCT, it went very smoothly. But I did however have a problem installing the Cumulative Update KB5017321. It would hang like I stated in earlier posts here. But once I got it from the MS Catalog and installed it everything was fine. Yaw Know it's kinda funny that they didn't offer me the update right away on the 20th because I already had Windows 11 on my new system less than four months old. here are my specks

I haven't installed it yet to my Alienware laptop but will save that for a different day. I can't see anything in the list above that would call for a delay in offering of 22H2. And it seems to be running Great on the new build. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

    Cheers!

    Edit:

Verified the same procedure on a laptop Upgraded from 22000.1042 using MS ISO 22621.382 while connected to the internet, it went directly to 22621.521 no intermediate step to 22621.382 and subsequent update with KB5017321, did everything during the upgrade process, no more work around needed. 😊
