Since last Windows 10 automatic update done on 8 PCs (KB5016616, KB5012170 & KB890830) 4 PCs are now showing "task host window is stopping background tasks" on shutdown.

Does anyone know what caused this?

Thanks

I already started the upgrade of the ASUS200TA, it's now on version 2004 cumulative update 2021-12.

I might stop upgrading to the last Windows 10 version as long as this issue persists.

Yep, even after all the latest updates I still get the same error occasionally, so it hasn't gone away...

the task host shutdown prevention is super annoying with multiple monitors and when you are affected by occasional intermittent black screens. Can still click reboot in start menu of 2nd screen when the main monitor blacks out.

Imagine the fun when the initiated reboot is stuck in the taskhost loop, but you cannot even see it cos' its on the blacked out monitor. Fix this, MS.

I have shutdown and restarted a number of time since I reported the issue was fixed for me with no problem.
