Since last Windows Update "task host window is stopping background tasks windows 10" on 4 machines

Since last Windows 10 automatic update done on 8 PCs (KB5016616, KB5012170 & KB890830) 4 PCs are now showing "task host window is stopping background tasks" on shutdown.

Does anyone know what caused this?

    I installed updates KB5017308 & KB5017500 (.NET) today. It did not solve the problem

    Well, an update from this cat . . . .

    I didn't move ahead with the suggested registry edit, but in frustration I 'did' remove all updates since July then reboot and let the OS do what it needs to do since then with auto update engaged. First reboot and need for reboot of an update it persisted. Second autoupdate and on and each reboot and manual shutdowns and such and this hasn't risen its head since.

    Fingers crossed.

    Had same issue as described here, with similar set of recent updates. Problem solved by uninstalling the last update (didn't record the number, it was a security update) and then let Windows Update run again.

    Uninstalling the last update took a couple of goes for some reason, but just after that everything started working fine again.

    After each new update I tried the typical methods suggested to fix the issue. After the latest updates give above I tried again and this one finally worked 

             Press Win+R to open the Run window.
    1. Now type the command powercfg.cpl.
    2. Select “Choose what the power button does.”
    3. Click on “Change settings that are currently unavailable.”
    4. Deselect “Turn on fast startup.”
