the same problem, it even happens with a newly installed machine and updated version of win windows win10 21h2
Since last Windows Update "task host window is stopping background tasks windows 10" on 4 machines
Since last Windows 10 automatic update done on 8 PCs (KB5016616, KB5012170 & KB890830) 4 PCs are now showing "task host window is stopping background tasks" on shutdown.
Does anyone know what caused this?
Thanks

2022-10-09T17:45:13+00:00 An update to my earlier posts . . . .
As of my last action a while back of deleting all updates to Win 10 since July and simply letting the PC go through the update process again, no issues with this goddamned problem.

2022-10-09T17:37:47+00:00 I have found that if I use the the shutdown command in the cmd window as admin with a time option I don't have the host task window issue. There seems to be a timing issue of some sort. I have been using
shutdown /s /t 15
(wait 15 seconds before shutting down after the shutdown process has begun)
