Since last Windows Update "task host window is stopping background tasks windows 10" on 4 machines

Been there, done that multiple times... no issues found.

I'm from Germany but I may be able to offer a solution that worked for me on 2 Windows 10 computers.
Excuse me, if my workthrough doesn't exactly tanslate to your machines. My Windows 10 is a German version. ;-)
Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Troubleshooting -> Additional Troubleshooting.

There go for the "Windows Update". Execute Troubleshooting there. You'll see it recognizes the problem and restarts the BITS service,
After that was done, I could shut down both PC without any problems.
I believe, I didn't even care to reboot first.

Since last update having same issues when attempt to power off computer. Receive the infamous 'Task Host window is stopping background tasks.'

At same time, Power Options do not function correctly. In control panel, always shows "Your power plan information isn't available." Help assistance from Microsoft says this is 'directly related to Windows Update' and to run the Update Troubleshooter and Power Troubleshooter... both of which produce no fixes. Computer will not go to sleep or turn off display after extended period of non-use.

If I shut down or restart computer within first 20 to 30 minutes, I receive no errors. But if longer than that, the system hangs at the 'Task Host window' screen and then goes to the login screen after about minute+... computer will not shut down or restart without clicking 'Shut down anyways.'

Have looked at event viewer and since 8/16/2022 (which was when update was installed), have multiple errors at times when I've attempted to shut down/restart computer... all with similar errors:

• the attempt by user to restart/shutdown computer failed
• session perfdiag logger failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035
• session 'PerfDiag Logger' stopped due to following error: 0xC0000188
• Microsoft Office Alert 16 event ID 300
• Microsoft.Windows.Remediation failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035
• Cloud Files Diagnostic Event Listener failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022
• NT Kernel logger failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035
• Microsoft.Windows.WindowsUpdate.RUXUMLog failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035

Over 720 event errors since the update on 8/16/2022.

It's an issue for all 3 Windows 10 PC's I updated past weeks. I prepared my father's Windows 11 update in time for the buggy bitlocker-restart issue on Windows 11 that got more publicity a couple of days ago.

A Windows 10 32 bit ASUS T200TA laptop did not show the task host message, but also refused to shut down without notice after the latest update.

I allmost killed it to get shutting down working with allmost all tips published for this situation on the internet. It finally froze before I could really do stuff from within Windows.

Fortunately an externally saved image with a 2018 Windows-10 version could be restored via a gparted live-USB. I'll await this thread before I'll upgrade it again. Unfortunately moving to Ubuntu would sacrifice the camera's.
