Icons Keep Disappearing From Taskbar - Windows 11

I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 a few months ago, and ever since I've been having a problem where the icons disappear from the taskbar. It happens while I'm using the laptop as well as when it comes out of hibernation.

I know this can be fixed temporarily by restarting Windows Explorer in the task manager, but this is happening several times a day and it's getting annoying. Is there a permenant fix yet?

I'm using Windows 11 Home version 21H2 build 22000.856 on a HP laptop with an Intel i5 1035G1 processor and 8GB of RAM. The problem didn't exist when I was running Windows 10.

    I also have the problem. Started with Win 10 and continued when I upgraded to Win 11.

    I also have this problem. Restarting File Explorer did not help. Installing updated NVidia driver did not help.

    You are not alone having this issue, single (left) clicking the icons makes the icon reappear or explorer restart does the job.

    I don't know what causes this issue, this issue occures randomly on my PC. I hope we get a fix soon.

    I checked and reinstalled the drivers yesterday, and I thought it had solved it but it's just happened again.

    I know it's not just me with the issue, but I'm starting to think there is no permanent fix and maybe some systems just aren't quite suitable to upgrade to Windows 11. We have a new laptop, that came with Windows 11 preinstalled and that doesn't have any problems.

    Dear grains66,in this case I suggest you download the Intel Driver & Support Assistant app to check for updates for the Intel graphics driver:

    Do a clean install of NVIDIA drivers;

    Download and run the latest driver package for your video card:https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.a...

    Follow the onscreen instructions until you get the Installation Options window;

    Select the Custom (Advanced) box and press Next;

    On the next screen, you will be able to choose the components to install (all should be checked by default and if you're not sure, leave them that way);

    In the Select driver component table, check the Perform a clean installation box and click Next;

    Restart Windows Explorer again in Device Manager and check if the problem still persists;
