Icons Keep Disappearing From Taskbar - Windows 11

I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 a few months ago, and ever since I've been having a problem where the icons disappear from the taskbar. It happens while I'm using the laptop as well as when it comes out of hibernation.

I know this can be fixed temporarily by restarting Windows Explorer in the task manager, but this is happening several times a day and it's getting annoying. Is there a permenant fix yet?

I'm using Windows 11 Home version 21H2 build 22000.856 on a HP laptop with an Intel i5 1035G1 processor and 8GB of RAM. The problem didn't exist when I was running Windows 10.

    This thread started almost a year ago and not a single mention from Microsoft admitting this is a problem. You don't have 5 pages of replies all saying "I have the same problem" and this not be considered a wide spread bug.

    Microsoft needs to investigate and fix this and give at least an acknowledgement that they are aware of this defect.

    As Microsoft has not yet released a fix yet, I use a workaround.

    The following workaround is for desktop systems with an external display.

    I have such a system, and at random times the taskbar is completely empty after the pc wakes from sleep.

    Workaround steps:

    1. Right-click the desktop area.
    2. Select "Display settings".
    3. Click on "Advanced display".
    4. Click on the "Refresh rate" button.
    5. Select and switch to a different frequency.
    6. Click the "Revert" button.
    7. See the Taskbar appear again.

    This works on my system (Lenovo Windows 11 desktop pc, with an external LG 5120x2160 monitor connected via DisplayPort 1.4 cable).

    Same issue here. Windows 11, graphics drivers up to date, system scans complete.

    My workaround is right click on taskbar>taskbarsettings>taskbarBehaviors>ShowMyTaskbarOnAllDisplays

    Would be nice to have a proper fix tho
