I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 a few months ago, and ever since I've been having a problem where the icons disappear from the taskbar. It happens while I'm using the laptop as well as when it comes out of hibernation.
I know this can be fixed temporarily by restarting Windows Explorer in the task manager, but this is happening several times a day and it's getting annoying. Is there a permenant fix yet?
I'm using Windows 11 Home version 21H2 build 22000.856 on a HP laptop with an Intel i5 1035G1 processor and 8GB of RAM. The problem didn't exist when I was running Windows 10.

I'm having the same problem. Started happening after I updated to 22H2. Seems to be linked to waking from a sleep state.
It's at least a little bit comforting knowing that there are a lot of other people experiencing the same issue.
My computer doesn't go to sleep ever and I'm having this issue as well.
As far as we have seen reports from others experiencing this issue, it only (?) occurs after waking from sleep but not on every awakening from sleep. The exact & predicable pattern has not yet been determined, in my opinion.
Also, some report that some icons disappear but not all, others report that the entire taskbar is empty.

The issue disappeared for few days with no windows updates installed. Then today came back again. Glad I didn't celebrate too early smh
Greetings from July 2023 where this issue has still not been fixed. It always pops up after my computer has been hibernating for a couple hours and the only fix is to either click all the invisible icon buttons or restart windows explorer. The fact that this still has not been fixed a year later is quite pathetic, Microsoft.
