On Windows 11, I can get the icons to reappear if you drag the icon in the task bar a little bit and release it.
Icons Keep Disappearing From Taskbar - Windows 11
I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 a few months ago, and ever since I've been having a problem where the icons disappear from the taskbar. It happens while I'm using the laptop as well as when it comes out of hibernation.
I know this can be fixed temporarily by restarting Windows Explorer in the task manager, but this is happening several times a day and it's getting annoying. Is there a permenant fix yet?
I'm using Windows 11 Home version 21H2 build 22000.856 on a HP laptop with an Intel i5 1035G1 processor and 8GB of RAM. The problem didn't exist when I was running Windows 10.
Thanks.

2024-02-03T16:30:34+00:00 Microsoft's position on this issue in 2024 is: "we don't give a..."
Just everyday, go to your task manager and crash/restart file explorer. Then go through the inconvenience of reopening manually all the folders you had open before that. ....until it happens again....
Then, we, Microshits, suggest that you go to your task manager again and crash/restart file explorer again, until a couple of hours later it happens again. Then, simply, go again to your task manager; and crash/restart file explorer again.
It's simple!!!!!
It's Microsoft!!!!!!!!

2024-01-03T10:13:46+00:00 Agree - that is the most direct way to recover - or to just go along clicking the empty spaces where the taskbar ought to be and the icons come back one at a time But it has beeing going on as a problem for a LONG LONG time now, reported by mulltiple users. Disappointing that Microsoft have not provided a fix.

2023-12-11T21:39:37+00:00 Same problem, in fact more icons are being invisible during the day. Something is messed up when a thread for the same bug begins in Sep 2022 and continues 15 months later... oh wait I forgot, this is Windos

2023-03-14T17:41:10+00:00 I've got exactly the same problem - all my taskbar icons show after a system re-start, but some are not visible after the system comes back from "sleep". The empty tiles are still in their correct position, and when I left click the blank tile, the icon re-appears and the program launches. Also, its not every tile, because some of them still are showing the icon. I'm running Windows 11 22H2, having upgraded from Windows 10 about three weeks ago. Everything was working fine until about a day ago - but now its happening regularly. I don't know if it matters, but I switched all the Taskbar icons to the left, to look like Windows 10. I'm running a Dell XPS 8930 with a Nvidia GTX1660 Ti. Everything is up-to date. To me, everything points to a bug in Windows - but if anyone can give advice I'd be very grateful. This never happened to me in Windows 10 ............
