Please bring back the ability to freely arrange icons within folders "DISABLE AUTO ARRANGE"!

I just want to "disable" confounding Auto Arrange files within folders in Windows 10. I can't understand that when you leave file/folder icons in the position and order that you want and then Windows decides to mix them up. I'm continually wasting time trying to find lost data. It's ridiculous. Does anyone know or can create something that just allows you to arrange or sort files within folders, and Leave them alone, without the OS messing them up?

you can still apply the registry settings that allow free arrangement of icons within folders, but, as of Windows 10 1703, the positions are not saved.

    for example

    dot frame.hta

    <frameset><frame src="."></frame></frameset>

Has Microsoft EVER listened to and reacted to their customers?

Bringing back : "Auto arrange - none" (in folders) sounds like it would make lots of Microsoft customers happy...why doesn't Microsoft want their customers to be happy??

Hi Jaime, It is not just you or me, it is thousands and thousands of users that are affected, probably most are not aware that it was possible with Windows XP to freely arrange files and for no good reason was changed by Microsoft Techs for newer versions of Windows.

For me it is different. I need to prepare lists of documents/Pdfs to be converted into one PDF list that can be bookmarked etc. But I need to arrange the documents/pdf in a particular order. I need to keep adding to the list. The documents are not in any of the options provided by Microsoft. I can of course number them sequentially but then if I need to add another document I need to renumber the whole list. The only saving grace is that Adobe and Foxit does allow users to list the pdf freely. Microsoft need to get into the real world of work!!

Please, please nobody come back about desktop icons. This thread is about the ability to list files freely in any order, that is, not in date order, date modified, or any other order fixed by Microsoft

This is what it is about: Why can't users arrange their files in the order this want?
