Windows 10 import picture's and videos not detecting correct android pictures!!

Running 22H2 with latest updates.

I ran chkdsk /r c: and rebooted, and finished the repairs.

I didn't have to clear the temp or run the script, as the import wizard worked flawlessly. The last time I tested (when the original query was posted) I got the "Try again" option. Chkdsk may have fixed something I think. I use the same cable even now.

I used a very basic low-end Android phone.

I also ran chkdsk today on both the windows 10 and windows 11 hard drives which took 3 hours+ then rebooted ran into the same problems then I deleted the photos app using powershell and redownloaded it and then I deleted an app called sandboxie plus for windows 10 rebooted and tried again this time using only Photos app it detected 7599 items but it wouldn't show any pictures as it would stuck on that screen, than I ran the classic windows 10 import pictures and videos and it detected the pictures with the correct thumbnails but I dont know the number of picture that got detected as I was talking to someone on the phone. I will try once again and see how many pictures are being detected it should be around 7,000-8,000 items -- both videos and photos.

update: 7,000 items were found this time

update 2: using photos app only 5603 items are being detected since the past 10 minutes I don't know if it's stuck or not. A progress bar with which locations photos is working on would be very useful to see where it gets stuck

I don't think MSFT will fix this bug any time soon. If you have a Windows 11 computer, you can try importing the photos using the new Photos app. Or look for a third-party program that can do the transfers.

The whole reason I use photo import is because it properly sets the date created and date modified and date accessed. I didn't find any other softwares that does exactly this, I do have a hard drive with windows 11 but using the new photos app, only preserves the date modified, the date created and date accessed are very carelessly updated to the current date and time which is not what should happen. Why should microsoft change something that worked well before? I am hesitant to use the new photos app in win11 or even the legacy photos app as the same problem is occuring with legacy photos.

I can no longer repro the issue, regardless of the destination folder I choose in the Import wizard. It cleans the (acq*.tmp) temp files duly this time. 3000+ items copied in a single go. that's strange!

Either because I ran Chkdsk on the system drive, or I'm running v22H2 (when the original question was posted, it was v21H2).

For some unknown reason, my galaxy s8 doesn't seem to capture all 7000 objects - aprox 3000+ pictures and 4000 misc. mix of videos and other formats. I have deleted everything inside the temp folder. There are no acq files and I've used all the USB ports and tried replugging my USB wire many times and tried to enable/disable USB debugging in developer options. What else can I do ? How do I probe any processes to see where something is not being executed properly ?

I just don't understand why the thumbnails are messed up when plugging my phone into my PC via USB. Like what specifically is causing this to happen ? When the image and filename doesn't match thats when I run into syncing problems. Even with using the photos app and photos legacy app, after some time 20 mins approx, I get a error message saying that something is corrupted. I tried to terminate and reset the photos app and re-ran windows update, still same problem. I am inside the Whatsapp images folder in windows explorer, I press F5, i see a different picture for IMG-202301-WA0003, I press F5 again, the picture is compeletly differnet, press F5 again, the picture AGAIN showing something different. I've done this many times.

The DCIM folder shows it's empty when looking with Windows 10 Windows explorer. Using Samsung My Files app within android, DCIM folder shows I have 7417 files, 15 folders so I know I don't have 3847 pictures and videos detected I should have alot more.
