Autopilot.dll WIL error

It looks like I was wrong when I said resetting the TPM didn't fix this. I just looked at my Event log and all my autopilot errors have stopped. But, for some reason, they stopped the day AFTER I reset my TPM. Odd. But, I guess I'd suggest others do the same thing (make sure you turn off Bitlocker first if you have it on) ....But, why it took all day, through multiple reboots, I don't know.

I don't know your OS version or build number, but if you haven't already done so you might want to disable your Fast Startup power option (see instructions <here> for Win 10 instructions or <here> for Win 11). Fast Startup (also known as hybrid boot-up / hybrid shutdown) can prevent services and drivers from loading properly at boot-up and cause all sorts of glitches and unexpected problems. Microsoft has even acknowledged that Fast Startup can even interfere with Windows Update (see the MS support article Updates May Not Be Installed With Fast Startup in Windows 10) and I always suggest that users with a Win 8.1 or higher OS should disable this feature.

Your user profile at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/988d098d-dfcc-467a-98cc-f0bf1c5e40f5 also suggests you participate in the Windows Insiders beta testing program. If that's correct then your Windows OS might behave quite differently than the "regular" release channel of Windows.

It should also be noted that the Dell Laptop in the previous post has since died (MB failure). I received a new Razer Blade 18 with Windows 11 Home pre-installed and the TPM enabled and was seeing the same issues as before (app hangs, service hangs, etc).

NOTE: I did try the "windows 11 reset TPM" feature mentioned previously...this did NOT work.

I had to disable TPM from the BIOS on the new laptop to resolve those issues.

This appears unrelated to the underlying HW as the two systems I have that were experiencing these issues are from completely different manufacturers (everything on the mainboard is different on the new laptop). This tells me that this is a 100% Microsoft Windows 10/11 issue.

Do you mean that you cleared your Windows Update cache using one of the methods described in the Oct 2022 MakeUseOf article How to Delete Old Windows Update Files? Clearing your Windows Update cache should not create any problems if done correctly, but you will likely notice that your past Windows Update history (e.g., at Settings | Update and Security | Windows Update | View Update History on a Win 10 OS) will be purged.

What is your Windows operating system, and why did you clear your Windows Update cache? Did someone suggest that this would fix the ModernDeployment-Diagnostics-Provider / Autopilot.dll WIL errors being discussed in this thread?

Alot of talk herein about "cache clearing". In investigation I found a cleanup tool called Restro. Sounds great and reported a load of error including regedits on my Windows 11 OS (Dell Inspiron). It comes at a cost and all literature is in German. Thoughts or experience?
