Windows 11 right click explorer menu - Show More as Default

Hello!

I cannot stand the new drop down when I right click on a file. Could you please update windows 11 so we can set the show more option as the default?

Hi Brie,

You can use a small registry hack to revert to the classic context menu if you're not fond of Windows 11's fast context menu.

  1. Open a Command Prompt window.
  2. Type the following command line and press Enter: 
     reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f

    Well, actually, perfect. maybe the volunteers will then stop doing Microsoft's job on "answers.microsoft.com". Cause right now, what volunteers do, is unwittingly support a system where they give Microsoft their work force and life time for free, thereby telling them they don't need to spend money on actual support, and serve as a first buffer against the angry users, who are then less motivated to use the miserable feedback hub.
    To be clear: On ANSWERS.MICROSOFT.com, I expect to get ANSWERS and solutions from scurvy MICROSOFT! and not some reg-edit workarounds from volunteers who mean good but hold up an evil system. I'm using Win 11 on a company machine, I'm no admin, I can't edit the registry, stop defending Microsoft from their deserved beating and let THEM deal with it.

    Simple solution: Microsoft needs to fix this and go back to W10 default.

    I cannot believe that during the W11 testing, feedback on this issue was ignored.

    90% of the time when I right click on a file, I want to copy it or share it. these 2 items should be part of the default.

    Nope. I've enabled the classic context menu since 21H2, no issues so far. The crash is probably caused by a 3rd party shell extension (e.g., NVIDIA context menu), which needs to be determined.
