I find it quite strange that no one from MS has bothered to interact here. On the other hand, maybe not. The arrogance is underwhelming.

I worked with MS back in the the 90's when worked for IBM on OS/2. They were just as arrogant there as they are now

No surprises there then. It is the same attitude with their software (365 etc). Work the way we tell you to work, not the way you do work or like to work.

Years ago, in the early stages of the PC, I was involved with software design. We went to great lengths to design software that dovetailed, as near as possibe, with the existing practices of the client. Obviously we had completely the wrong approach, despite the fact that the clients were very appreciative of our efforts.

As is often the case. What becomes an industry standard, is not necessarily the best for the job. It becomes the industry standard through the financial clout of the successful vendor.

I've given up with waiting for this, I'm gradually getting used to it, I suspect that's what Microsoft is hoping for.

The introduction of tabs for file explorer is a step forward, but it would be nice if a tab could be dragged and docked next to another so two windows were visible at once. Too much to expect I presume.
