Now KB5015814 won't install

OK. I tried to run updates today, 7/12. I got the exact error and reactions as when I tried to install KB5015814 that I got for the KB5014668 failure last month.

I ran scripts, tried a lot of advisor recommendations and did the in place upgrade (but rolled it back) for KB5014668 so who knows what was changed or broken then????

Does anyone have something that WILL work this time? I really don't want to spend 5 or 6 hours and get no where again.

Will an in place upgrade work or will restoring an image from before June 22 be a better option. I don't want to do that unless it's a last option.

Please don't have me run the canned things to correct an update error. It didn't work last time so I really would like something that is known to work if that is at all possible.

    Ended up facing the same issues although I had a little more adventure in Safe Mode. Using the SHIFT-RESTART method, when I got to the SAFE MODE selection screen, my Razer Huntsman Elite keyboard wasn't registering keypresses. Should've just gone straight to the msconfig method instead of unplugging the keyboard and removing several of my cables off the neatly bundled up cables management.

    In either case, I've finally managed to update to KB5015882.

    Here's my prcoess.

    1. Did all the SFC, DISM, CHKDSK stuff
    2. Disable all Real-time Protection of Malwarebytes v4.5.11
    3. Disable .NET 3.5 and 4.8 - Encountered issues with 3.5 disabling with a CATASTROPHIC ERROR. This was fixed by reboots and re-attempt
    4. Delete everything in ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader, %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution and %systemroot%\system32\catroot2
    5. Did the regsvr32 /s for atl.dll, urlmon.dll and mshtml.dll
    6. SAFE MODE delete of pending.xml in Windows\WinSXS
    7. Downloaded KB5015814 manually and ran the install. Took over an hour on my system to finish. My SSD is a Samsung 960
    8. Updated KB5015882 via Windows Update
    9. Enabled everything that was disabled
    10. Wrote this post.

    Ridiculous amount of stuff to go through. For some reason 5882 installed easily and 5814 still wants to install. Even after shutting off Malewarebytes and Framework. Getting Framework back up and running was a long waste of time. Thinking the next computer will be a Mac.

    Malwarebytes was the issue for me also. I had to disable the software and restart the PC once started back up I was able to install the software.
