Now KB5015814 won't install

OK. I tried to run updates today, 7/12. I got the exact error and reactions as when I tried to install KB5015814 that I got for the KB5014668 failure last month.

I ran scripts, tried a lot of advisor recommendations and did the in place upgrade (but rolled it back) for KB5014668 so who knows what was changed or broken then????

Does anyone have something that WILL work this time? I really don't want to spend 5 or 6 hours and get no where again.

Will an in place upgrade work or will restoring an image from before June 22 be a better option. I don't want to do that unless it's a last option.

Please don't have me run the canned things to correct an update error. It didn't work last time so I really would like something that is known to work if that is at all possible.

    I found the problem with my computers and the update KB5015814. Two of my seven computers installed the update without issue.

    The other five computers would not install this update. I had thought about disabling MALWAREBYTES to see if that was the issue

    but got tied up in other troubleshooting and since MALWAREBYTES is installed on all seven of the computers with the same settings.

    (Actually eight...One Win10 machine) and two of the seven Windows 11 machines had installed this update with MALWAREBYTES installed (Latest version on all) I had dismissed it as a possibility (WRONG!!!). In the end it WAS MALWAREBYTES! Version 4.5.10.200. Once I disabled all of MALWAREBYTES services on the MALWAREBYTES UI Panel I was able to install KB5015814 without issue on all the remaining five Windows 11 computers. UGH. Always try the simple thing first....Hope this might help someone else. Regards.

    Can Verify, after fighting with this for hours, simply disabling Malwarebytes protection and boot on start options allowed the update to finally take! what a hero!

    As I have written above KB5014668 installed without issue.

    KB5015814 does not. Manual installation of KB5015814 as I have written above ALSO did not install.

    This isn't a fix... but if you didn't try to install the optional KB5014668 at the end of June, that had the same problem and in my thread on that one, some people were able to install it with great difficulty and some couldn't. But now, some think that if you can install KB5014668, then this one will install. It's a long thread but if you didn't try to install it, this is that thread. Can't install KB5014668 - Microsoft Community I'm not saying to install it but it seems to be the same problem so this might be the first time some are seeing it. No one seems to know what the common thread is that is causing this problem.

    Hopefully an authorized MS fix will be forthcoming in the near future.

    I, too, am having this problem on all three of my Windows 11 computers with both the Windows Update and the standalone installer. The update gets to 100% and then says it failed. I have run DISM and SFC to no avail.

    One thing that I have noticed on two of the three machines is that if BITS is set to automatic and running when the update starts, it is reset to manual and off when it fails. I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem, but it did seem a bit quirky.
