my computer was "upgraded" to windows 11 without my permission and now i am unable to resolve this issue.
Windows 11: WiFi gone after sleep
My laptop is installed with Windows 11 Home Single Language and uses the network adapter of Realtek 8822CE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC.
Every time when I put my laptop in sleep mode, the WiFi disconnected automatically, and the network adapter driver also disappeared from the list of device manager. After I restart my laptop, everything goes back to normal, but I would like to resolve this issue permanently.
I have updated the driver, but the issue still persists. Below are the images that illustrate the issue.
- WIFI has gone after sleep mode.
- When this issue happens, the WIFI icon also disappeared
- I run troubleshooting, it states that there is no proper network adapter driver installed
- The WIFI's network adapters driver disappear from the list of device manager when this issue happens.
- After I restart my computer, the WIFI connection back to normal, with the WIFI icon appearing and the driver appearing in the device manager.
HOWEVER, this issue comes back every time after, I put my laptop into sleep mode.

2023-09-29T01:05:31+00:00 So, with 7 pages I think I went through all of them looking for the same answer but I could have missed something. I had the same issue with Windows 10 and I had previously found a solution. Sadly though I did not save it and after upgrading to Windows 11 I have spent the better part of a year trying to find the solution again. Alas, I found it! I applied it last night and just minutes ago upon opening my laptop I am thrilled to say I did not have to restart my laptop. Here are the steps and a link to the Windows 10 support article I found.
****CAUTION: Altering registry settings can irreparably damage your system an result in a need to restore from a clean install***
Despite the caution, as long as you don't alter anything other than what is described below you will be fine.
Steps:
- Press Windows + R and type regedit, then press Enter.
- In the registry go to the following address:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238c9fa8-0aad-41ed-83f4-97be242c8f20\7bc4a2f9-d8fc-4469-b07b-33eb785aaca0
- Within that registry key, double click on "Attributes" and change the value to 2. (Note: By default it will have the value set to 1)
- Then restart your pc and let your PC go into sleep mode overnight to see if your problem is resolved.
